I respectfully disagree.

They want jailbirds because they are dangerous and therefore exciting. They want all that drama. They want to tell their friends things like “you don’t know how it is” or “I had to mature quickly” or all that movie-like crap. Plus they get real wet when a guy does not give a damn and do them hard.

And then, by the time they have 2 or 3 bastard kids and their cesarean scratch and south-pointing nipples make them too unattractive for jailbirds they will pull the old agenda and seek the nice guy who used to be by her side when she cried because her abusive boyfriend gave her a black eye. Then she will “really mature” and “realize that her real love was always there for her” and justify her “choosing” of the nice guy, provided that the guy has steady employment and enough credit to afford a house that fits the 3 little bastards.
