Woman survives brutal domestic violence attack.
It was a morning like many others in Anywhere, Pl ( Planet Earth ). Jennifer U. Nawalt had just finished feeding her five-month old infant and was looking forward to visiting their local car dealership with her husband Chuck E. Cuck after dropping their infant at her mother’s. Ms. Nawalt had had her heart set on a brand new Cadillac Escalade Platinum she and her mother had seen on the lot. Jennifer still remembers the conversation she had had that day while admiring the SUV with her mother. ” She said it would be perfect for a couple just starting out in life ” she said, still shaken by the tragic event that would sadly leave her without a husband and her infant without a father. ” I already saw myself in it with Chuck driving and mom and Jason in the back in his cute car seat. We had been planning to drive to the beach that day in our brand new SUV and mom kept repeating how proud Chuck would be to drive his wife, mother-in-law and son for a sunny outing…” Jennifer added between sobs.
On that fateful day of May 18, Chuck, a tall and large man and a successful salesman for Ri-poff .Inc had told his wife he had lost 2 important clients the day before and that his checks would leave them with a $24,0000 financial hole for the year. ” Then we started talking about the SUV and that’s when Chuck started to act irrational ” Jennifer remembers. ” We could still buy it. Chuck had been putting away for a business he wanted to start but even with the SUV, he would still have had enough to start the business “. Unfortunately, her husband hadn’t seen it quite that way. ” He started getting agitated and raising his voice. He kept saying that what would be left wouldn’t be enough to start a business.” Ms. Nawalt paused, replaying the scene that would lead to the attack. ” Then he started yelling, saying I only thought about myself, that I just wanted to keep on spending until we were broke, things like that.” But Mr. Cuck’s insistence on standing his ground quickly turned to tragedy when he started to pound violently on the kitchen counter, loudly overturning dishes and utensils. ” At that moment, he got very scary.” she remembers. ” I had never seen him that way and I thought he was going to harm me and the baby. My life literally flashed before my eyes and that’s when I grabbed the … ” Jennifer would not finish, shaken by sobs and still in shock of what had transpired that day. When police arrived on the scene, Mr. Cuck was spread out in a pool of his own blood on the kitchen floor. After a short interview with detectives, Jennifer had been found, by the office of prosecuting attorney Mr. Cage Emall, to have protected herself and her son in self-defense faced with a large man who had lost all control of himself.
Today, Jennifer continues to make her appointment at HVDV ( Home for Victims of Domestic Violence ) and considers herself lucky to be alive.
Sadly, scenes of domestic violence such as described above are nothing new in America. It is estimated that 60% of married women will, at one point in their lives, be faced with D.V and an estimated 25% of those women never truly recover from the anguish and scars such attacks leave on the victims. Jennifer Nawalt had been lucky to walk away relatively unscathed, which is often not the case for too many other women.
