I quite disagree with that sentiment as it is not applied to “single mommies” by the law.
As a single custodial father, I raised my daughter alone. 100% financially responsible with no “child support” nor subsidies provided to custodial mothers. My daughters mothers financial obligations were immediately placed in reserve by the courts, unlike what happens to men when they lose their children.
Obviously I am NOT a decent hard working man, as any additional financial support from the mother would have been used for to offset the costs of care, and would have been appreciated.

In terms of child support, I don’t think it’s black and white. Grumpy said it well I think.

I’ve been on both sides of this. Since I was married to a woman who already had a kid, I saw the money coming into support him. I never turned the money away, but I also didn’t depend on it. When the bio Dad couldn’t pay, I told my then wife to let it go.

Now, I pay child support. It sucks that I have no say in how the money is spent, I am also glad that my kids were never not forced to live in a s~~~ty neighborhood due to my exe’s lower income. I would opt that child support be removed, but I also would my kids to have a good relationship with their mother, and I would not want to be the sole parent of kids 100% of the time.
