Women are the most greedy vile creatures you’ll ever meet. I always bulls~~~ them when I’m socialising, I lie about my job, tell them I drive a s~~~ car and I rent with 3 other guys.

As soon as they hear this they’re out the door sooner than they can say credit card. If only they knew the truth, home owner, nice bank balance, 3 holidays a year etc..

One thing I’ve learned is that they don’t care about how much of a nice guy you are. They’re only in it for what they can get and if you haven’t got it then it’s f~~~ you.

I have a nephew that is living with a fat slob with ton’s of student loan dept. This is the worst kind of dept, even being bankrupt doesn’t wipe it out.

I try to warn him but he’s thinking with his little head, he’s 24 and has no clue about women and she’s pushing for a ring so he can share her student loan dept.

    Aren’t women sweet and innocent.

Just a tidbit, but statistically, twice as many women carry credit card debt as men. I do not doubt that the balances carried are also at least twice as large on average.

That’s a deceiving static. I would say 1 or 2% of the women in debt are so because of a man, while 80% of the men are there because of money spent on women.

Does a woman aquire a mans debt in marriage or just the other way around? Please forgive my ignorance.

For my case, when you get married everything becomes community property. All of your assets and debts. So you are on the hook for paying off her credit card debts and vice versa.

Divorce is different though, in that you retain your assets and debt that you had before the marriage. For me, this came into play with retirement funds. I was able to produce the balance of my account at the time of marriage and said balance was not divided with my ex. Everything I contributed and interest gained during the marriage was.

Debts didn’t come into play as I made sure we were credit card debt free when we got married. My car was paid off and she had a lease. I bought the house we lived in before marriage so I got my down payment and initial payments back, the rest split.

As far as the credit card debt we accumulated during marriage, my lawyer advised me to take it all in return for retain a higher share of the retirement. The credit card companies will still come after you for unpaid debt, and you really don’t want your ex using child support money to pay off credit cards. So that’s what I did.

Ignoring all the other issues you’d have with marrying a woman, this one alone is reason to never marry. In the age of equality, forced community property is a no go. Men and women need to be able to retain their own separate property and decide how much they want to contribute to the marriage. Both members of the marriage should be required to sign off on any expenditures of the marriage. The marriage should be treated like a separate legal entity, similar to a business partnership.

    Ok. Then do it.

I’m glad I never went down that rabbit hole.

My older sister had once tried to hit me up for a loan a few years back that I initially agreed to. The weekend before I was going to transfer some money to her I looked up her Facebook page. Thursday hot tub party, Friday karaoke at a bar, Saturday some other nonsense. I texted her and said if she has the money for all that, she didn’t need to borrow it from me.

It also turned out she had borrowed money from our parents with the same excuse months earlier she never paid back.

Yup…its ridiculous these laws are still based on an era when most families were single income families with the man being the breadwinner, most women were home makers, no fault divorce didn’t exist, and most marriages were til death did they part. The way things are today with people marrying later in life and divorce happening more often than not combining finances with someone is a miserable idea unless they are more well set up than you.
