If a woman wanted an engagement ring, I’d tell her to go dig it out of the ground herself. As has been said already, the whole thing is a scam invented by De Beers. Diamonds are not rare, there are skips full of the things and they are utterly useless. Where De Beers were clever is by strictly controlling supply and then inventing a demand by clever advertising.

Second hand diamonds are pretty much worthless, good luck in trying to sell one. Gold on the other hand is pretty much liquid as there is a defined spot price and there are any number of places where your gold will be weighed and you will be given the market value.

Women want to get married although I don’t think in the long term many women want to be married. Men try and delay this as long as possible, but eventually give in as they are worried about losing the pussy and think they don’t have the confidence or game to get any more.
