I was thinking about this today.

I got up in my bed, made of wood. The truck was probably driven by a man to a warehouse operated by men, and then the pallet was loaded onto a ship, by a man in a crane, and then a man drove the boar, crewed by men across the ocean to the dock where another man took the pallet with my bed off the boat, with a crane, and put it on a truck and drove it from New York or Boston to Kansas City Ikea where another man unloaded the pallet and put the beds in the storage location probably constructed by a man, where I bought it. I went to the checkout, where a woman shot the barcode with a laser device, made by a man, and she took my money.

So, just my bedframe involved dozens of men making things doing things, and one woman taking my money.

I made my breakfast. oatmeal, probably grown by men, packaged in a factory by machine made by men Cabinets made and installed by men, in my apartment built designed, financed and built by men. I locked my door, door made and installed by men, locked the door, turned the key, metal mined by men and walked to my car, made by men, imported into this counter carried in a ship designed by men, crewed by men, unloaded by men, sent to a dealership on a truck driven by a man, car sold to me by a man, insurance sold to me by a woman who took over 2 hours to insure my car. Somehow me being from another state flummoxed her.

I drove on roads made by men, staying on my side of the road because of traffic laws made by man, obeying stripes in the road and signs and signals made by men. I put gas in the car, made from oil drilled and processed by men, at a gas station created, financed and built by men. I paid a woman for a bottle of soda.

I went grocery shopping at a store founded by a man. I pushed a shopping cart made by men made out of metal from ore mined by men. I found my food, probably planted and grown, harvested and processed by men with tools and machines made by men. I checked out, giving money to a woman.

I drove home on a highway designed, financed and built by men, staying in my lane thanks to the painted stripes, paint made by men, and painted by men on the pavement invented by a man. My car, invented by a man and founded by another man in another country, operated flawlessly, thanks to the men who engineered and built my car, made the engine, the tires and brakes. The engine runs smoothly thanks in part to the designer, a man, and the oil change men who removed the worn out oil and put in new oil. The recycled oil is picked up by a man and cleaned and reused by other men.

I am starting to see a trend, and I arrived at that conclusion before noon time today. Everything I have, touch or used today, is in my possession or experience because of another man’s thought, ingenuity or labor. Any time I had to pay for something, it was into the hands of a woman.

I put a little thought into thinking about what if any possessions I have were invented or created by a woman. I am really struggling here.

Oh, I got it. A woman made the burrito I ate today, but I watched a man cook the steak, chop the veggies and put the food out for the woman to assemble the ingredients. Other times I have gone to this place, a man made my dinner.
