I almost interjected that I make use of smileys, then realized I only do so when talking to women, and even then rarely.

    Carry on.

This is my favorite emoticon. If facebook had this, I would be back on there in 2 seconds and “like” every status update and picture a woman posted.

    “Im feeling fat today”

“Maggie changed her relationship status to “in a relationship””

“I just found out Im pregnant!”

Sir, I laughed out loud when I read this!

I don’t use emoticons for the most part. I really only use it with women who may not know me well enough to figure out the tone of statement. They may not get the sarcasm.

I primarily communicate with my ex through test. I only wish to discuss basics of who’s picking up the kids when, so it’s perfect for that. With guy friends, it’s often text because we’d rather discuss when we are faced to faced then phone or text. Just the basics.

I do like text for communication when I’m first meeting a woman I might be interested in, it removes awkward silence, gives me time to think on what I want to say, and she will ‘hear’ what I say exactly the way she wants to. The drawback to this is, how do you cut off all the texting when it’s jumped the shark?

    Ok. Then do it.

    Ugh….texting.
I disabled texting on my phone for many of the reasons mentioned above.

I hate texting! The only time I text is when I tell someone who’s expecting me that I’m not available and I will be late. I’m not a conversationalist with texting. Besides, I find typing out the text more effort than talking. I really also hate those initials: LOL, LMAO, IMO, BRB. It just a sign of laziness, and I hate having to translate someone else’s laziness. Sometimes those other things could mean other things than it’s common use for it.

I hate emoticons because they’re so stupid looking. When ever I email my only friend (male) and I’m in a miserable mood, he likes to respond to my messages with the most annoying emoticon, which is a face with the tongue sticking out as if he trying to say “naaahhh.” When I’m in a bad mood, I don’t need a reply with an emoticon that’s so childish.

Women find them cute and feeling, and men find them stupid and annoying. I think also why women like them is because it involves talking about thoughts and feelings, which a lot of guys don’t like doing. Yes they get angry when you don’t use enough of them, because you’re not pouring out your feelings the right way. Opening up our feelings is a dreadful thing women make us go through.
