Gentlemen,
What are your thoughts about Windows 10? Are you going to upgrade? Reason?
Particularly there is this big fuss about Microsoft collecting data.
There. They admit it openly. They occasionally collect VALUABLE DATA!!! YOUR DATA!!!
“OMFG MY PORN HISTORY GOES STRAIGHT TO MACROSOFT NOOOooo. They will tell my mom and im getting blocked out of wifi for 1 month =(”
I think it wouldn’t be much like that as of today if they were lying about not touching any data. At least they are being honest about that.Well I personally don’t get the fuss about it and probably never will. If we remember back in time (Win95, 98, XP), Microsoft was already collecting data very early.
They were doing it all the time and I don’t see anybody even notices it. Like someone said (forgot the author) “Privacy in the IT (or electronic) world is dead. Get used to it.”. Damn straight.
As far as I educated myself about it, this is the very reason why people won’t upgrade. But that’s none of my concern.I just wanted to point out, that their kind of reasoning is utterly pathetic and they make themselves look like a complete moron. I bet they continue using social media and google chrome, feeling they have their privacy.
However final point is: Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10 or any other OS: They choice is the user’s… rightfully. But they will keep collecting data regardless of system. Just make sure how you treat technology and you’re not getting backstabbed one day as you would be surprised how did they."We are free to follow our own path. There are those who will take that freedom from us, and too many of you gladly give it. But it is our ability to choose ā whatever you think is true ā that makes us human. There is no book or teacher to give you the answers, to show you the path. Choose your own way! Do not follow me, or anyone else."
Sorry, I am against all data collection. I use windows 10 on a desktop for gaming, but that is it. I use Linux for all other things, a self built system, using Openbox/Tint2/guake and a browser called Palemoon(based off firefox, but without all the crap). I say p~~~ off to social media, and I always use a monacre online except for professional stuff.
Privacy of data and information is important. Especially in an increasingly authoritarian world. The internet never forgets. I would rather not have my past(I am not the same person I was 5 years ago) brought up in the future, as if that was who I am at that point. I really feel sorry for these college idiots who post damning photos of themselves on Facebook. Some of them are in for a world of hurt in the future I would bet.
I agree though, people who complain about windows 10 and still use social media need their heads examined.

I honestly don’t care about “data collection”. Almost every other site collects data. The only reason I even use Gmail and Youtube for instance, is because I need a Gmail account for my Android. That, and it’s the best free service for email out there.
What I hate about Windows 10, is that it’s adware all over. It also forces users to use a stupid metro interface. Not to mention it’s buggy as hell. Which is why I’m moving over to Linux.
Also, since Windows 10 turned into a rolling release, I have no doubt that they’ll force users into a subscription based service in the future. I also don’t trust Microsoft because of the Xbox One s~~~ they pulled.
Ohh yeah, if they pull that subscription crap with Windows they will kill their own OS for home use I bet. Especially with some linux distros getting pretty easy to use for the average person. It will also probably be a huge boon for Apple as well. Not that I support Apple, their hardware is way too expensive for what it is.

Wont pay for Windows subscription or cloud OS either. Must run locally.
Exactly. I don’t want a subscription based operating system. Knowing Microsoft, they will force users into that in the future just like they did with Micros~~~ Office.
I don’t really like Apple either, but their services are far superior to Microsoft’s services. Especially since they started pushing people into using their OneDrive and metro interfaces.
They even removed their basic games such as Solitaire in order to gain more ad revenue by forcing people to download their adware version of Solitaire from their Windows store. And guess what? You have to pay about 3 dollars a month in order to get those ads removed.
Over the years I have rarely found it worthwhile to put a new major version of Windows on an existing computer. I like to keep the one it was built to run. I don’t know about 10, but I don’t think I need the new features very much. I don’t use the cloud, or handhelds, or anything with a touch screen.
As to privacy, I guess Msoft will collect some data always, but I have effectively blocked most other servers from sending much, and I don’t put much “secret” info on there. anyway. I have 7 working pretty well, and don’t really want to introduce a bunch of potential new annoyance.
My next computer is likely to run Linux. I’ve never owned an Apple product. None of my clients ever used them, so no pressure to do so. I don’t hate Apple any more than any other company, but they are expensive and I find their marketing structure abominable."I am is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that I do is the longest sentence?" - George Carlin
Anonymous3I think anyone that wants to give up privacy and mocks others for wanting to keep theirs is a f~~~ing retard.
I have found it tends to crash, and run slower. In my opinion, better to WAIT a year until more bug fixes are released. I did find, it improved performance on one computer which had an SSD. I’ve put it on 3 home computers so far.
I regard SOME data collection as good — an app crashes, you want to send the core dump. But you ought to have to OPT IN. From what I’ve read, Winblows 10 privacy settings can be enabled… But by default, they are NOT. AND you have to do it in MANY different settings… And you don’t have the ability to selectively enable/disable updates, which really, really blows, especially if/when you know one is going to cause problems…
I haven’t run windows since 98SE, and that was just for games.
Don’t really care about Windows 10 that much. Feels like a smartphone OS on a PC. Shame Windows used to be an actual business tool and not just a toy.
I don’t really care about these things. Nothing bad has really happened with me and Microsoft, even with this news, honestly.
I stayed away from Windows 10 as soon as I saw they were offering it for free.
There is no FREE in this world, only naive people believe it.
Well…. there is on thing that is free: thinking. Unfortunately since its free, so many around the world underestimate it.Plenty of things are “free” such as open source software. The time to develop those certain software aren’t free, but the source code itself is.
The more people that move to Linux the better and the sooner windows dies the better.
