Anonymous11A potential new client abruptly cancelled his order two days after a verbal agreement on the purchase of the equipment.
Unfortunately, it was too late for me to cancel my orders. He is a piece of s~~~. I have to eat it. A PC dual monitors and a video card. I got some killer deals on the equipment so not as bad.
Lesson learned 50% cash upfront for any untrusted clients.
The work it took to just install the Windows 10 OEM DVD onto a freshly formatted hard drive was mind boggling. It’s not like the old days.
Anyway, I’ll have a dual monitor virgin Win 10 install capable PC once done.
I can eat screw jobs like this. My old Desktop PC is beginning to get really weird. I’m taking it back to Win 7 once migrated.
I abused the s~~~ out of this PC with dev tools and other crazy installs over fours years. It also has had four OS upgrades too.
First time virgin from OEM Win 10 media on the new one.
Migration time for myself!!!!
Win 10 is bugzilla. I’m making some sweet cash hacking it to work though.

Win 10 is bugzilla.
yeah, f~~~ that.
Anonymous11You’ve got that right Hitman.
I really don’t know what I’ve done to get the Win 10 install working properly. Too much automation IMHO.
It’s looking better though. I’ve spent the past 4 months chasing Windows 10 bugs in a variety of contexts. Microsoft quality is slipping badly.
I forcing it forward with limited low profile deployments of it. I’m learning a lot. I’m developing a a book of hacks too.
Overall, I hate Windows 10.

Me too. After a HD replacement, I put Windows 7 back on. Windows 10 is a pathetic joke. More of a kids toy than a tool for real work.
I’d like to throat punch gates for Windows 8. What a s~~~ operating system. Now I can’t use my work PC without constantly getting a prompt to upgrade to 10. I don’t want to upgrade to 10. Microsoft has a habit of turning good things to s~~~ over time.

They should go back to the simplicity of Windows 2000, while retaining the essential features that appeared since it was released. But I doubt they have the sense to do that.
At the very least consider releasing a slim version of Windows with the classic gui and minus most of the useless junk. Then have a version for those too braindead to exist outside fisher price land.
I still have my old XP machine. It does everything I want.
Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?
what’s with the win 10 virus constantly popping up on my computer asking me to upgrade? Biggest dick move from MS yet. They hid it as an update too. c~~~~~~~~~s.
I bathe in the tears of single moms.
Anonymous11Yes, I love an operating system that tries to sell me things and the random addition and removal of features during the constant stream of updates is f~~~ing insane.
Only Microsoft could f~~~ up Windows 8 and 8.1 even more.
@Uchi: Look into GWX Control panel. It’ll stop the Win 10 nags at least until MS changes things then he updates.
This is the developer site:
If you find yourself with windows 10 first thing to do is turn of windows update with PC to PC option. Windows update which applies patches, by default now uses the PC to PC method. Microsoft lets your computer hunt for other windows 10 computers that have the latest patches and download from them. Potential HUGE security hole. Turn that s~~~ off.
You can make windows 10 look like windows 7 as well.If you liked windows 10 you will love the next windows. It will be called “Windows” no more numbers. It will also be subscription only so now you get to pay microsoft a monthly fee. Yay!
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion, it is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning; it is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
I only use my Windows machine for gaming. I plan on building my own custom desktop and installing some kind of Linux flavor on it in the near future. I can’t stand Windows 10 honestly. I’m also glad that gaming is moving over to SteamOS and Linux as well. After Windows 8.1, Windows in general is becoming s~~~tier by the minute.
It’s full of bugs and nagging notifications I can’t even turn off. I also hate the style. It’s like a crappier version of KDE Plasma. If it weren’t for ClassicShell, I wouldn’t even be able to use this piece of garbage Microsoft calls an operating system.
Windows 8.1 was not to bad of a operating system once i got used to it except they removed alt f8 startup so it’s harder to get into safe mode.
Just an east coast asshole who likes to curse, If you get offended by words like fuck, cunt, shit, piss, bitch or any racial slurs then you just scroll down.
If you know your way around windows, most automation and security issues can be resolved fairly quickly. The way it looks is can be customized.
I preferred XP myself, but the reason W10 is a better option is the availability of software. Also, from what I’ve read, W10 was supposed to be the final OS with Microsoft simply offering cumulative updates to the system.
It’s a long-term investment and if you’re offered a free upgrade to W10 – I’d take it before it expires. You’ll be fine with older OS if you’re using what already works, but software developers don’t really care to make their programs backwards-compatible and I’ve already run into a few programs which I use that simply won’t run on XP.
You can still micro-manage a lot of the things that you could have done on XP, it is simply hidden as an advanced function of the system so takes some time finding the options for it.

Last time I looked at that it had become impossible to reskin Windows 10 with any of the old themes because Microsoft removed something critical to doing so?

Too bad Microsoft ruined what was formerly a pretty decent product. That’s what happens when an outfit starts catering to the lowest common denominator.
Never mind about the theme thing. It’s the classic themes that you can’t use anymore. Looks like Windows 10 can still use a Windows 7 theme change. But that still wouldn’t be enough to get me to use Windows 10 again.
(…)Too much automation IMHO(…)
YES!
I miss W98.
I still have W7 on my laptop, and I’ll advise anyone to set the Windows updates to manual mode, and actually go look at the check list. I’ve been prompt several times for an update, and when I looked at the check list… W10.
I’ve heard people that get their start menu on W10 deactivated, you basically have to re install the damn OS again to get the start menu working again…No to mention all the options that by default come ON and are a major privacy risk, google something like “things to disable on W10.”

I miss W98.I remember Windows 98 SE. It was ok, but I would go with Windows 2000 myself. Just trying to use ME after a decade of living with Windows NT was incredibly aggravating.
Anonymous11I really do prefer it over Win 8.x.
My biggest gripes are the constant feature changes plus the detailed reporting and usage spying back to Microsoft.
There is one feature enabled by default where your personal documents can be uploaded to Microsoft for troubleshooting purposes. I turned it back to basic reporting which supposedly does not do this.
I have signed non-disclosure agreements with certain clients and am not allowed to store their scientific data in the cloud due to it being proprietary. I used to work in that industry and know the reasons.
Storing this data on Windows 10 could potentially make me violate my NDA. Windows 10 is very poorly thought out as far as giving Microsoft too much control. It may be good for some random granny, but for professionals we have a reason for what we do and why we do it.
I did get to sell that PC to another client for a video project and could deliver that very day so it made me look really good. I’m keeping the monitors though for my dual monitor setup.
I’m seriously considering moving over to Linux for my personal computing.

I switched over, you won’t regret it as long as you are just doing the basics.
I have to take great care with what I store on the cloud too. Some things I have to use the cloud, other things, I can never let on the cloud.
