I saw a young mother today. She was not too fat, just a lil chubs. She had a 18 month year old with her and she herself was probably 25-27. I didn’t bother reading all their “comments” because I’m sure that they’re doing the Man HATE Thing, and I get your point that THEY wouldn’t try this with Women, but to be honest with you, I always thought the combover in all it’s various applications was/is the most RIDICULOUS looking “hair style” that a Man could do to himself.

So when is it ok to make fun of a person’s issues? Obviously, you can make fun of someone if you know they’ll understand the joke and are willing to admit where they lack, or where it is funny. You could argue that it’s good to make fun of someone when they need a reality check, to be taken down a peg or two.

Where it’s cruel, IMO, is when it’s done intentionally to hurt someone, or to boost your own ego. This is what women do all the time. Often times it’s completely hypocritical. And it’s one thing when it’s done out of open cruelty, but perhaps worse when it’s disguised as caring for that person. “You’d only be happier if you looked more like me”.

I also have issue when people try and pretend their self-induced ugliness is because of how people judge them, not because of their habits. Yes, fat shaming is cruel, but a person who successfully losses the weight never claims they are glad the shaming is over. No, they talk about how good they feel, how they can move they way they want and are happy with the way they look. You don’t get to that point by telling people they can’t judge you, or lying to yourself that everything is ok.

I generally don’t care about other people’s vanity. I don’t care if you dye your hair, get a boob job, wear makeup, exercise for cosmetic reasons, wear the latest trends, whatever. Do you what you want. I don’t care if you give advice to people who are interested in looking better in the same way you did. Just let people make their own choices and deal with the consequences.

Legitimate point. I think you can mak fun of someone if you are also going to be ready to take some back. If you cant take wht you dish out, then the mouth or pen should not be used. The nice thing is, studies exist showing bald men are perceived of as slightly taller, slightly stronger, and leadership material. So the take home message is, get comfy, shave that noggin and grow a Viking beard. The level of getting f~~~ed with declines dramatically!!!

I’m not bald (yet) (have shaved my head before) but I’m shocked at how different I was treated once I grew out the beard. Before it was like “meh”, after I did, I actually get apologies all the time from men and women who perceive they are too close to me. Without me even saying a word.
