In the realm of alcohol addiction, an alcoholic may start off with expensive liquors, fine wine or high end beer. Even securing it in expensive bars and not factoring in the cost. But when he/she hits rock bottom, could be found living under a bridge with a $5 bottle of low end vodka.

A drug addict may be selective in the beginning, and be able to pay for quality cocaine and $20 a pill Oxutocins but when the crash comes, he/she will have no problem doing $10 worth of meth or smoking a $5 rock of crack.

A gambler may start off playing $100 hands of blackjack at a casino, putting $500 bets on sports games and paying $2,500 entry fees to Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments. But when he/she finally burns out, and has lost everything will use a dollar to buy a scratch ticket.
