I’d also say that it used to be that women tended to appreciate the financial aspects of marriage much more than they do today. I think she considered his work to be a sign that he cared for her and the kids, and that made her care for him. Now, she takes it as a given. His income freely given to her means nothing to her, but it is hers to take without his consent. So today’s wife feels less loyalty and gratitude to her husbands because she feels like she’s getting less from him…even though she isn’t.

Then there is the general sense of entitlement. Women today feel like they are due happiness. It’s a bigger world with lots of opportunities out there. That there shouldn’t be any work to keep a relationship going. If things are going well with your husband, the first choice is not to try and fix the relationship, but to hit reset and start over with something new.
