There were talks there about alimony and why a woman should get some because she is accustomed to a certain life style.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t shut it and wrote: “Well what if the guy is accustomed to her giving him a blow job, does it mean she has to come over and give him one every day because he was used to it”.

You know what guys, I really don’t understand the point about Alimony and who is the idiot who thought of it.

I can get the dividing the shared assets, but dammit why Alimony? those are usually the claims

1. The woman was accustomed to certain life style – see my first comment about that

2. The woman sacrificed her career for the guy? well, no one made her do it, people make bad choices in life all the time, does that mean they someone has to pay them for it?

3. The woman invested in the guy? well workplaces invest a lot in their people, does that mean their people owe them for life?

4. Women can’t get along without a guy – not true for the last 30 years, that’s why many choose to divorce because they make their own money + get money from the ex, they can get along without help.

This is bulls~~~, they always say that a woman needs money to maintain her lifestyle, there is no mention or consideration of the mans previous lifestyle.

His needs and lifestyle aren’t taken into consideration.

Even if that alimony would bankrupt him, it is all about her.

In the UK divorce is not supposed to disadvantage either party unless of course you are a man.

So many of these laws are so old. They go back to a time when women didn’t work and didn’t have assets etc Now they work and have privileges that men can only dream of. Engagement rings are another throw back, they existed because if the man reneged (or died) the woman could sell the ring to provide for herself. Not necessary anymore.
