    Why Hackers Hack
Infantile is too glib and too short. Here is the long version.

Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?

    Why do hackers hack?
Because they are feminist SJWs who have a compulsive and puerile need to annoy due to their lack of control over their own lives.
And also criminals and government agents (is there any difference?).

As far as I know, hackers are players who are not interested in a challenge but in proving (even to themselves) that they can beat something or someone.
In multiplayer games its not about even winning (since even hackers realize that a win with cheats has no value) but about their opponents loosing.

While its si something definitely annoying, most hackers will not stay in the same game for extended periods of time. The reason for this is that when there is no challenge, it gets boring quite fast.
This is why normally old games tend to have fewer hackers.

And on topic, I have known some hackers back in the pre 2000 era.
These were driven by finding out as much information as possible. The idea was not to get rich or have power but to know.

I’m a 2K hacker; it has mostly to do with curiosity. I see something commonly over looked and say, “and what if i did this?”

For example, one of my earliest hacks was at my school, a normal person would wait for the computer to start and login.
While starting up; i noticed that the anti-virus software would display some information like, “anti-virus starting up”

That window so happened to use a very familiar font… THE DEFAULT FONT OF A WEBPAGE!

So, What would happen if i were to say, right click it? as if i were right clicking the page of a website?

BHAMN!!! The context menu shows up! and on it, “View Source”

So, i view the source… and it opens up in notepad…
Dafuq! I’m not logged in; yet i’m able to open up notepad! Something is not right here…

So, what if i try to use notepad to open up another program? Works!

Ok, so what if i try to use notepad to open up an explorer window?
KABAAM!!! Big brother CRASHES! AND I NOW HAVE ROOT ACCESS TO THE COMPUTER!

Hacking is really just doing what the average joe won’t think of; thus doing what the developer thinks you won’t do.
Hacking is only possible because of s~~~ty ass programmers.

Why do hackers hack? Because we are curious. And on the whitehat side, because we want to improve.

Also, please don’t mix up skids with hackers; hackers create hacks, and skids use other people’s hacks and pretend to be hackers.
Huge difference. 99% of the “hackers” that you will run into are indeed just skids.

Anonymous, lizard squad, all just a bunch of skids.
    >Herp derp! i’m going to use LOIC, the s~~~test dos tool ever; made by some skid copying and pasting code bits from f~~~ing tutorials.

Ask any “hacker” what they know about Syn Ack attacks. Or just TCP Exploits in general.

You can take out an entire datacenter with a single computer with these attacks. Vulns that have been around for decades; yet hardly ever used, because skids can barely use command prompt.

In my school people would pull the Ethernet cable out when it was loading the Windows domain security policy, then put it back in so it loaded the rest of the stuff. They then had full access to the machine and the programs on it that were otherwise restricted.

Some people also figured out how to tamper with Lanschool, so they could exit the class channel and do as they pleased unsupervised, as long as the teacher didn’t notice that people who were on computers didn’t have a slot. One guy also carried a netbook in his pocket and it had the full LanSchool installed on it, so he could pretty much do whatever he wanted to any machine in the school.

I once got busted for having a Visual Basic web browser in my account, my account got banned and I had to go to the L.A.N dungeon in the library, where I was accused of playing games (stray game related files) and thoroughly chastised and threatened if I did it again. Turns out he didn’t have any idea why I was banned because the two administrators didn’t compare notes so I didn’t actually get blasted for what I actually did.

School / Gov IT in general tend to not know what they are doing.

I had to hack my computer during a grade 12 final exam, because the techs f~~~ed up \w some ultra retarded s~~~.
was the most retarded thing ever…
First you were not allowed to save, and once you closed word everything was deleted.
Then! When it came time to print, you had to print… and then immediately close word and log off.
I was fighting with them, to get them to check that the damn thing printed, and they were refusing to even check that it printed till AFTER i closed word.
    And Behold! IT NEVER PRINTED!
Both I.T. techs came running in, being utterly retarded… They logged into THEIR account, to try and find the files.
So, i literally said, “Can you look over their for a second?”
Rooted the computer, opened up the temp file in word and said, “Oh! it looks like everything is ok now”

Then sent it to print, and the f~~~ers STILL WOULD NOT CHECK THE PRINTER FIRST!

    It’s just schools in general…

The administrator who banned me in the first place also failed to secure his work laptop so some of the guys in the class were watching his Spongebob episodes(during class) and he probably didn’t even know it.

They also had a setup that could detect when USB devices were plugged in, I once did and I had process explorer sitting in the root of the drive, suddenly my control locked and an invisible entity deleted the processexplorer.exe, I pulled it out before it could delete anymore of my files. I plugged in a blank drive a while later and they were back within 30 seconds trying to find something to delete.
