For arguments sake, let’s foolishly assume all these benefits are real. These would still only be the benefits of having companionship and love, not marriage. Marriage is nothing but a contract. It is no guarantee of either love or companionship.

Exactly this.

All the supposed benefits of marriage can be had without marriage. Marriage itself is just a bad contract for the transfer of wealth. When a woman wants to marry a man it’s not because she wants to be with him. She can do that already. It’s because she wants his stuff.

Been there, done that with the marriage thing. The only thing good about it was getting out of it. It’s an expensive mistake for a man to make.

Can’t watch youtube at work, so perhaps I’m way off on this. I’d agree that there typically is an emotional boost. It’s not based on reality though, it’s how he’s projecting having a loving wife forever and how great it’s going to be. Because now excepted by the masses. That boost quickly dies when he faces reality.

I would think a woman would have a similar boost, but it would die down less. She has legal access to his finances, come what may.
