Why doesn't someone take a chance and create a quality show just for men?

Hello Good Sirs,

I just wrote an introduction to get it out of the way, so I figured I might as well post a first topic and get that out of the way as well.

I’ve been thinking about why some brave content creator/distributor doesn’t create a high quality show directed exclusively at men. Men and women are so different on average in what they enjoy watching. And we no longer live in a time where there are 3 TV stations in which content can only survive if watched by both males and females. Proof of concept, there are literally hundreds of shows out there directed exclusively at women.

But the bulls~~~ shows that are supposed to be for us like Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Narcos, The Walking Dead, the Sopranos, etc., all eventually cave and f~~~ us. The first season is always the best. Finally! A show that I can get behind. Then comes the unnecessary character, the pointless plot twist, the emotional development. Before you know it, you’re watching Amy Schumer’s new all female remake of Sex and the City.

SPOILER ALERT FOR GAME OF THRONES: It starts out impressively with men dominating, f~~~ing hot women left and right, battling and conspiring. As time and seasons go on, you realize you were tricked into watching two shows. It’d be like if you started watching a lesbian porno and by the end it you’re watching all man gangbang, but less enjoyable. Game a thrones becomes a soap opera where women rein supreme as rulers and a giant butch short haired lesbian is stronger than any man. The original heroes become one handed fools, long curly haired metrosexual oblivious morons, nonthreatening little people, or are just straight up killed off if particularly badass and masculine.

Why not actually create a show for men that women might not enjoy to target 45% of the population? Because major shows are by and for advertisers. And advertising is targeted directly at women (80% of the consumerism market) or is indirectly at women via their blue pilled men. So, the content is tarnished. Podcasts, books, youtube channels, websites circumvent this with male only content supported by male only advertisers. But the major content creating avenues for huge budget shows like netflix, amazon, major networks, etc., will always be beholden to that 80%.

Not the biggest deal in the world, all things considered. But I still wouldn’t mind sitting back for a high quality show now and then. Guess I’ll just have to stick to sports with the remote at the ready to click away during whatever female topic is coming between game breaks.

I think we will see more. I’ve heard good things about “mad men”. But a big factor is they want advertising revenue and we know that women control 80% of spending (For now). They are going to cater to women.

I have been watching a bit of full contact medieval fighting competitions. It is growing faster than mma.

F~~~ers are getting knocked out cold and bones broken under the armour.

It proves the best survival strategy is not making a mistake as opposed to higher skill training.

Basically you lose by making the first error not by being less technical.

I haven’t watched TV in a while. I watch TV when I’m on a vacation or if I’m visiting someone. The last TV show for men I remember was Married…with Children. The main character, Al Bundy, made me laugh when he’d insult his land whale customers and organize his “No Ma’am” meetings.

yeah i figured that out a while back. When it comes to creating a hit show, first you have to get the men. When the men like it, then it becomes socially acceptable and talked about, then women hear about it and want to be able to talk about it with men and say, ooo yeah, I love the walking dead, blah blah blah blah.

Then slowly you switched it over to get even more and more female attention where they actually do enjoy it. A soap opera.

Then you sell the ads. Being that women are 80% of consumer spending, if you want to create a spactacular grossing show, you’ve got to get that women audience.

That thing is, most women can’t create and hold a trend. So it’s a delicate balance. First you got to get the male populace, make it popular, then the women will invade. Then you switch it up a little, to get more and more women to like it. This happens with everything, even things like comic con. Women can’t do anything alone, and usually the first women in the door are just looking to look cool and more importantly, find some dick. This is just how it works.

very true. the comic con girls have become an abomination. i suspect the very first ones genuinely liked some of the characters and got into the spirit of the event. this was before attention whores realized that that had overlooked a new “Halloween” situation where they are granted a pass for unabashed sluttiness, but now with an opportunity to be filmed.

Why bother with corporate media? There’s plenty of good original stuff on the internet. Sure it doesn’t all have the same big budgets, but it’s the writing that matters, and that’s not something advertising money can buy.

On Game of Thrones, the butch lesbian superheroine has a tough time defeating a malnourished Jaime Lannister who was held captive for weeks and lost quite some muscle. He also only had the use of one hand and STILL put up a good fight. He’s even mocking her right in her face when they square off on that bridge. I know women go all “YOU GO GURL!” when Brienne (the butch) “defeats” Jaime, but they completely forget what they’ve seen the episodes before that.

Haven’t watched the rest of the shows, and don’t intend to.

I know Game of Thrones has been very disappointing. Started off great and got more and more Feminist. Women are the only “Smart” ones. Women are the best fighters and Men….Men are dumb…and pretty well useless at everything. F~~~ GoT.

They will never have a major show specifically tailored to men. For the simple reason that women are the consumers that advertisers want to target. Ads targeting men are “durable” items, anything from tools to trucks. Unless it’s beer or whiskey, there aren’t a lot of “consumables” that men repeatedly buy. Always follow the money…
