It pains me to agree with THX but one can’t ignore the evidence; Obama WAS supporting ISIS and trying to use them as a surrogate army to overthrow Assad. President Trump on the other hand cut all their support and went after them.

Trump did launch missiles into Syria… And we now have permanent bases in a country which did not invite us in. So, not so sure how much of a break he made really.

Also, your clarification of this only supports my argument, that is if we support ISIS, even if we are no longer doing so (fantasy) then we bare some responsibility in all of it, including blowback.

I guess I should explain further. Israel has always had it in for Assad and would love to see him toppled; so in a way Israel and ISIS had a similar short term goal==but I don’t think this was a “plot” rather it was merely serendipitous. ISIS wanted Assad gone so they would be free to control Raqqa and the surrounding area. Israel wanted Assad gone for a different reason–to remove the threat to their hold on the Golan heights, which just happens to be a vital source of fresh water. Israel will never relinquish the Golan and Syria is never going to stop trying to get it back.

This doesn’t as a matter of logic mean that Israel and ISIS are on the same side…rather they have a similar short term goal.

Drugs and Women. A lot of the fighters who joined were actually disappointed to find out that ISIS couldn’t even deliver the religious teachings properly.

So you have a bunch of weak, spoiled teenage boys doing some fighting so they can get to the pussy and the drugs.

There isn’t a plan here, it’s just about causing havoc and fighting for the f~~~ of it now.

None of these represent a major blow against the state. Thatcher was mysteriously absent when the bomb exploded.
