Today I was asked by a lady why I wasn’t more chivalrous to women. my response was:

“My dear lady, I do not think you know what chivalry is about or what it entails and I can assure you I know the chivalry code like the back of my hand”

If some of you wonder about the code, you need to understand that they differ quite a bit. This one is closest to the one I know:

Dave Chappelle said it best: Chivalry is dead, and women killed it.

I don’t think it’s that simple. I have seen chivalry, but it’s mostly among “brotherhoods” like between soldiers in the military.

More to the point, Where is your self respect?

You are a woman so I’m supposed to put myself out for you? Take Take Take. What are you giving me?

You just expect the service of men because you are female? Get in line like everybody else. Stand on your own two feet and then I might repect you.

Try to shame me into compliance and I will walk away.

    And not look back.

I thought they were modern women who wanted sexual equality ?

Totally. I’m just addressing chivalry as defined by the modern, and even older-generation women.

I think we ALL know where chivalry still lives, and amongst whom. We just cut women out of the equation at their own request.

Chivalry never had anything with bending over for women, it was along the lines a code of conduct and helping the helpless and innocent.

I just have to say I love your profile picture. If you are able to edit it maybe change it into blue chains for a more symbolic meaning?

Anyway that is the truth, the lady was shocked when I recited the code of chivalry and told her to wait for her turn

I would have told her to shut up and go make me a sandwich and walked off laughing.

Second wave feminism attacked chivalry back in the 1970s often citing that it treated women like they were helpless, you have to remember that back then, “women’s lib” was all about women becoming more like men, soon when men opened the doors and other chivalrous acts, the “ladies” called them sexist pigs.

By the 1990s, most young men have learnt that chivalry isn’t all it’s cracked up to be while women started to realise that they miss chivalry and wanted it back.

Just some more female demands or shaming. Fill in the blank: Why aren’t you (or men) (more, less) _____?

I’ll be chivalrous on my terms. Being courteous to those that deserve it, and not to those who wouldn’t even appreciate it. I held a door for a very old and struggling woman and she was very prompt to say thank you loudly and showed genuine appreciation. Then later that week some bimbo was looking for a seat in a crowded bar and said to myself hell no, let her find her own spot. She wouldn’t appreciate it anyway. I moved down a seat for couple who wanted to sit together and the guy bought me a beer for being courteous. I never do it if I feel obligated, I do it only because I want to.

They have much more than equality so maybe they can hold a door open for me . They have superiority which with wich that comes responsibility. They are strong independent woman so i won’t offend them with chivalry

I was asked by a lady why I wasn’t more chivalrous to women

I would tell her annoy that day in 1995 when some c~~~ carrying some bags told me “she could open it herself”. I took her word for it and let it slam in her face.

My dear lady, I do not think you know what chivalry is about or what it entails

    She doesn’t.

A woman once accused me of being “chivalrous”. And as a man, when I am accused of something , I carefully think about that something is before running my mouth.

“The only reason I held the door open for you was because I didn’t want you to slam into it and give yourself a big nasty bump on the head. I don’t like bruises peaches either. And that’s not “chivalry”.

Women can’t seem to open anything correctly without a man’s help.
    Pickles…. a jam jar…. potato chips….nail polish…. their legs.

Women have expected me to do all the work and open all of those for them.
So why should a DOOR be any different?

So ladies, please don’t call me chilvarous just because I don’t like a woman to hurt herself. Persistence, alcohol, and making sure your woman isn’t banging into any doors has worked since the beginning of time.

“CHIVARLY” —>> is when some poor shmuck has to put on his suit of armor and make sure his slutty girlfriend isn’t whoring herself out for more male attention on Facebook / twitter / Tinder or any dating websites.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.

Chivalry never had anything with bending over for women, it was along the lines a code of conduct and helping the helpless and innocent.

This is exactly what I was thinking and then wondered at what point some asshat bent chivalry to mean men must be in servitude to a woman.

There are many reasons why “Chivalry” isn’t being practiced.

Firstly, it’s an action from a Gentleman to a Lady. There are lots of women out there but exactly how many “Ladies” have you met lately-I’ve met zero.

Secondly, having been “chivalrous” for the last 30+ years and more than once been called a “pig” for opening a door for a woman (giving her the benefit of the doubt that she’s a Lady) I won’t be doing it any more and won’t give any women that benefit-she’ll have to prove she’s a Lady.

Lastly, there’s too much in the way of legal liability involved having anything to do with them (women), too many poor magistrates/judges administering too much bad law to get involved….

“Why do you not have any chivalry?”

Because this isn’t the 12th century? Could be.
