Why do men get married?

I got married because I wanted to love a woman with everything I had and start a family with her. I wanted kids, and I wanted to give them a great life. However, I found out the hard way that the wife and one of the two kids were nothing but resentful and ungrateful takers. End of story.

Anyway communication, real open communication, is not wanted or even required in a relationship. Women cannot handle fully open and honest communication, plus most perceive it as a weakness on the part of a man. All that is required is catering to her whims, and even then nothing is certain. Honestly? I was in love. Social conditioning made marriage the next obvious step. Love has some enormous blinders. They’ll block out everything.

I got married because my wife (GF at the time) had a good, professional job (teacher), was decent looking (a bit overweight but did exercise), loved sex, and I liked her company (we liked the same things).

Fast forward 15 years – she constantly bitches about her job, is more overweight (and does nothing about it even though she’ll talk about starting an exercise program and never follow through), hates sex (we haven’t had sex in 18 months – still aiming for the record of 25 months that we set a couple of years ago), and I can’t stand being around her most of the time (she has this idea that acting like 15 year old is cute and funny – um, no it’s not). She’s also lazy as hell (literally just sits on her ass playing on her phone – she doesn’t even brush the kids teeth most mornings if she’s home. Guess it’s too hard to get off of your ass to do a basic duty).

I won’t even watch sporting events with her – I want to watch in peace and quiet, and she wants to blather on during the game calling everyone on the other team a douchebag, then she gets p~~~ed when I don’t interact with her.

Because the advert was very good but the product is not what we expected….Like an advert for a car with you always riding into the sunset with wind in your hair…then the reality, maintenance and insurance cost, the roads are packed with traffic, the weather is too hot or raining…You get the point…And you have no choice but to pay it all off because it was damn expensive for a f~~~ing dream…

Looking back there was exactly ONE woman who would have had the chance to convince me when i was 27 and was looking to nail down a hot broad and have her for life.
But then a Tunesian (Yea! a f~~~in´ Towelhead!!!) guy told me i was too young and to enjoy myself a little more.

i have seen some two dozen chicks naked. Seriously MEH skills.
That is all they are to me, and i have come to understand that naked chicks have nothing to offer that makes my life better than it already is.

*Job? Education and progress?
*House? Laundry, cooking, decorating?
*Money under control and going up?

Gimme 5… no 3… no 1. ONE reason what a marriage can give me that i can not do for myself.

Multiple reasons.

Religious reasons.
Out of obligation (knock ups, etc).
Settling.
They believe the lies they need a woman to be complete.
They are really naive.
They think the woman they are marrying is different than other women.
They don’t like being alone.
They want kids and think this is the only way to do it.
They just think it’s the way things are.

Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

Nah, man. I was married and I feel pretty stupid. You need to calm down.

As for why I did it. Mix of things as others have said. My snowflake convinced me she was a NAWALT plus desire for family plus naive to just how bad the odds were for having a successful marriage and just how much the system is against men.
