Why Are U.S. Marriage Rates Going Down?

The TYT staff missed the opportunity to talk about some real factors that contribute to the decline in marriage in the USA. They lightly covered female hypergamy (without calling it by its ugly name), but if they dug in deep, they’d say, “Most women don’t want to get married to some minimum wage loser.” It was kind of amusing to watch them struggle to admit that a two parent household would be in the best interest for children (psychologically and financially). Other factors they could’ve discussed:

1. The consequences of divorce are really, REALLY bad for most men (child support payments, limited child visitation rights, alimony, losing personal property).

2. Women are more empowered in our society, so they get most of the benefit of the marriage. I’ve heard many married men base their decisions on what makes their wives feel content because “she’s the boss.” Most men aren’t looking for an independent, strong-willed, empowered, sassy woman for a wife, and the United States produces an overabundance of such women.

3. What are the benefits for men? There’s no good reason for a man to be married if he’s no longer respected as the head of the household. You can’t expect a man to volunteer to be a wage slave for an entitled princess and get laid once a month or once in a blue moon. Women have the power to is threaten their husbands with divorce and also threaten to make false police reports of domestic abuse if they don’t get their way.

4. Americans are more independent-minded. Many men and women want to go to college and “climb the corporate ladder.”
They don’t have time to stay home and raise kids—which is considered a demeaning role for modern women, thanks to the feminists.
Modern women compete with men in the workplace for salary and benefits. Why would they downgrade to the role of a submissive housewife?

5. Our modern society allows us to be sexually active before marriage without being shamed. A lot of men and women want to experience casual sex with multiple partners before they “settle down” and get married, and some are content with just dating. But some married folks STILL make profiles on dating sites and cheat on their spouses. It’s easier to cheat when you have your own smartphone that’s locked with a password. There’s too many selfish people who don’t take their marriage vows seriously.

Marriage has become a ridiculously lopsided contract that overwhelmingly punishes men.

The only reason marriage rates remain above zero is because some men DON’T understand all the the consequences and are naive enough to gamble that they can beat the odds. “Oooh but my cupcake would never turn on me — we love each other”.

Better for a man to go his own way and have a great life — than to sign up to be a disposable female utility.

I’ve said this before but in many cases it’s an ego thing. Often guys will think that they’re better and smarter than the ‘other guy’. Even when reality proves them wrong, their own ego will prevent them from acknowledging that they were wrong…

The outrage I have is loads of women make $80k plus, but they do not support a family with that income (like a man would do). Definitely…accompanied by them thinking their cupcake is special. A huge majority of the older guys I work with have a divorce under their belt. A few of the younger ones are married/engaged. You can point out the 90% of the divorced older guys and be like look, they’re all awesome guys who are divorced, do you think you can end up that way? Answer every time, “No,” usually followed by something stupid like “You just have to choose carefully.” Meanwhile…they are marrying some stupid slut near or already post wall with baby rabies and a bunch of debt and don’t realize choosing carefully these days is choosing to not marry at all.
