I think the key policy platform that got Trump across the line in the US was his hard-line stance on both legal and illegal immigration. Looking around my own domestic landscape with its rising unemployment, foreign debt, rising population, expensive housing and declining resources, I wonder who will be Australia’s Donald Trump and have the b~~~~ to crack-down on immigration and make Australia great again?

You really have to respect many of Trump’s policies in terms of what’s in the best interests of US citizens –

* Prioritize the jobs, wages and security of the American people.

* Establish new immigration controls to boost wages and to ensure that open jobs are offered to American workers first.

* Protect the economic well-being of the lawful immigrants already living here by curbing uncontrolled foreign worker admissions

* Select immigrants based on their likelihood of success in the U.S. and their ability to be financially self-sufficient.

* Vet applicants to ensure they support America’s values, institutions and people, and temporarily suspend immigration from regions that export terrorism and where safe vetting cannot presently be ensured.

* Enforce the immigration laws of the United States and restore the Constitutional rule of law upon which America’s prosperity and security depend.

Unlike in the United States, we Aussies cannot choose our leader as such, we can only really choose Liberal(Australia’s answer to the Republicans) or Labor(Australia’s answer to the Democrats), at best, voting for an independent or a minor party will give them limited power in the senate but not running the country.

As for a Trump-like leader, we haven’t had a charismatic leader since Bob Hawke was PM during the early 1980s.

Pauline Hanson, unlike Trump, was extremely inexperienced in any type of public life and associated and allowed herself to be guided by some of the wackiest people in politics.
It’s great that she’s back in the game but the media still insists on deliberately misreporting and trivialising her. This is despite both sides of politics quickly adopting the vast majority of her immigration policies.

I can’t see anyone who’d even come close to Trump who might be a chance in stopping the rot, much as Putin stopped much of the rot when he took over.

Hoping some political messiah will save us is a nice dream but I think it’ll take a total financial collapse before the victims stop playing victims.

As an Australian, now living in the US, all I can see is that Australian politics is a lost cause. Since earning my American citizenship, I see how few freedoms I had as an Australian.

Australia is a “Nanny State” and no matter who is in government, they will keep the illusion of freewill and the chains of tyranny in place.

Germany, France and Sweden could use a Trump too. One can only hope the Trump effect will catch on before it’s to late.
