Who here owns a motorcycle? Care to talk about it? Year, color, displacement, model, etc. Let’s see some pictures. Let’s hear some stories.

For whatever reason I can’t stop thinking about my zx-6r. Maybe it’s the upcoming autumn. I used to ride and ride. Rip through the falling leaves. No idea where I was going. Nothing feels quite like it.

My first bike was a ninja 250r. You could peg the engine all day. Every day, all day. Not much power but a ton of fun. It got to be a problem after awhile you just put on your gear and ride. You gotta ride. I still didn’t have my license at the time but I’d ride and ride. One day, might have been mothers day? Valentines day? It was some name-day. I went out for a ride. Flew through a school zone going 35 over. Cop starts going after me. I didn’t even know he was there until he made some noise. Man was he p~~~ed, lololz.

35 over in a school zone, no license, big trouble. I got off scott-free but I couldn’t take the bike out until I got my license. Probably a good thing. I really enjoyed that bike.

I have always had an infatuation with bikes. Have had a few, but sporting a 96 dr 650 right now. Awsome bike for city and dirt riding.Although, had to chop it up a little to make it my own.

Will throw a pic up if someone can tell me how. I only see the image link button??

Going to add another one next year for longer rides, have my heart set on the fatboy lo.

Also have barrowing privileges to a dyna wide six speed for multi day, gypsy style trips. Camping along the way. I stay in alot of hotels for work, so this gets me out of my element.

Yes, sir! Nothing like the open road, huh? I own two, and I haven’t been the same since. They are my babies, and I am proud of both of them.

My first bike that got me hooked was my 2012 CMX 250c from Honda. Matte silver. 84 mpg. Carbureted. 250cc. Excellent on gas, and fun to ride! Poor thing is temporarily out of commission because of the clutch slipping. I attempted to adjust the clutch lever free play hoping that it would help, but it’s still revving hard when I shift into 3rd and 4th, I drained the oil, took off the right crankcase cover, and found a piece of chipped metal in between the oil pump and the clutch basket. From what I can see, one of the friction plates looks worn. I was going to disassembly the basket all together. However, I ordered the wrong size locknut wrench to remove the locknut. Therefore, this project is temporarily on hold until I can get the money to get the right size locknut wrench and necessary clutch parts.

My other bike is a 2014 Yamaha Bolt R-Spec. Matte Silver with a black stripe. 942cc. Fuel injected with piggy back shocks. 50 mpg. This one I’m particularly proud of because we both made it through a hit and run accident back in May of 2014. I was driving home from work on the highway going 60mph and after I pass through a traffic light, this corvette red colored car speeds out in front of me. So I back off to about 50 mph, and merge onto the left lane. Then without warning or signal, the car cuts into my lane in front of me and slams on the brakes. I don’t have enough time to think so I apply the brakes, I feel my rear wheel screeching and swerving left and right. Next thing I know, my front fender collides with the car’s rear end, sending me in somersault over the handlebars, over the trunk and on the ground. I laid there for a few minutes. I was face down on the pavement. I slowly turned my head as I was laying there to look ahead. The car had taken off. Not certain where it turned. There were witnesses, but they couldn’t identify the make and model of the vehicle. I went to the hospital to get checked out even though my crotch was the only thing sore ( I was wearing full gear). A state trooper visiting me in the hospital and informed me that they found half of the license plate. Unfortunately, it was not the half where you run the tag. The driver or car were never found. After six months of buying everything piece meal, the forks, a left rear turn signal, shift lever, left foot peg, left mirror, and clutch switch, I rebuilt her back to 95 percent her original state ( the 5 percent being the left rear shock that was scratched up and a dent in the left side of the fuel tank). She runs like a charm and I’m glad to have her back. I was going to school to learn how to work on motorcycles at the time so the knowledge I had attained came in handy lol.

From what I read about your zx 6r, it sounds like you don’t have it anymore. Is this true? If so, what happened?

I don’t own one now, planing to get a Honda Rebel 250 soon. I’ve been riding for about 35 years, big ones, little ones, medium sized ones. The 250 is like coming full circle.

Back in the day I had a Suzuki GS1100 – Lou Reed posed with one for the inside sleeve of the “Legendary Hearts” album, which made it ultra cool to me. I was only 16 when I bought it. It was really expensive at the time, especially the insurance. I rode it till I couldn’t afford it anymore.

Now I have an 8th gen Honda VFR. She’s basically my wife. I can ride that thing all day, day in and day out. Doing a two week tour to the east coast as soon as I wrap some work up. Camping half the time, motels the rest. Just a beautiful machine – fast, sounds incredible, comfortable, and soooo frickin red. I just love the thing.

Haven’t been able to afford upgrading from my 2011 Honda CBR250R (starter bike) but having huge fun with it. Hundreds of kms a week. It’s pretty much stock except for some carbon fibre shiny bits and a ridiculously loud exhaust that saw it thrown off the course when I went for my licence (which means I passed the test on a loan bike, so yay me).

Great thread OP, I was planning on starting something similar. Note that the forum rules specifically mention not posting pics that can identify us, like number plates etc. Here’s a stock image of bikes like mine (and same colour).

Been there, done that. Now, I’m all into being wrapped in steel with a windshield and roof. Don’t ask why: but the answer is examples served me by others before I blundered in.
Oh, the last one was a rice rocket, which was faster than most sports cars — cars that cost more than a most people’s houses. If you want fast and affordable, then a motorcycle is the way to go.

Edit: I have not figured out how to get my dog on the back of a bike. My dog goes everywhere I go. So — and this might make sense only to me,– the automobile with the windshield and steel wrapping makes the most sense. Call me a soppy pet lover, or whatever. That’s just me.
You, dear reader, might just have other priorities, and thus choose transport options to suit your personal taste. If you want a bike, go for it! They are loads of fun.

My first bike was a Suzuki GS1100. Rode that thing with no license, no insurance and no f~~~s to give for four years, let it go when I moved to a city with hills and dangerous drivers.

Now I’m older, maybe wiser, and definitely more protective of my body parts… and just picked up a Harley-Davidson Iron 883. It’s fun, easy to ride, great for puttering around the neighborhood and short trips to the local coffee shop… I get to feel like a badass without having to depend on it as my sole vehicle. It’s a fun “f~~~ you” to all the guys in SUVs with three children and all the females who wish they could catch a ride with a man going his own way… too bad this bike has no back seat, sweetheart.

Awesome bike for me. Extremely stable, fuel efficient, and frigging fast when I need it to be (usually getting out of the way of some asshole). Never dropped, or damaged, until some douche bag tried to peel the hard case off the bike with a screwdriver recently. I’ve been across Canada west to east, and north to south. Got rid of my 2007 Honda 750 C2 Shadow (cruiser)for this. No regrets

    According to my daughter..
Nothing looks tougher than a thin 5′ 9″ man dressed in full leathers (pants, chaps, vest, jacket, and gauntlets, beanie helmet and aviator glasses), with a leather jacket wearing miniature pinscher tucked in his jacket…
Right up until she started singing YMCA.
I’m pretty sure I’m raising her as an asshole 🙂

On second riding season with my 2007 HD Sportster 883 Custom. Can’t stay off of the thing. I’ve been taking day trips into NE Pennsylvania and New York State with a coupe of trips to the Jersey Shore. Use it to commute on nice days. It’s the 21st bike I have owned in my riding career. Working up to some overnight motorcycle camping trips once I get the right gear.

I don’t currently own a motorized bike, however I do have two kick-ass ‘me’ powered bikes! Always loved bicycling as a kid/teenager and have always been enthralled with motorcycles and dirt bikes. The last couple of years the possibility of getting a motorcycle has been becoming a reality and I’ve always been set on sport bikes and naked bikes. Next year I might finally pull the trigger…at least get my license to get that out of the way. Been looking at the Ninja 250 but just discovered the bad-ass-ness of a the Harley Sportster 48…I’m in love with that thing!!!

Have you ever seen a whizzer? They’re a motorized bicycle / moped that hearken back to the original motorcycling days, I personally think they’re cool as all hell, and since they’re just 49.99cc they fall under the limit for requiring a license in most jurisdictions.

Small motos are wonderful to ride- they increase your skill levels dramatically,
without the danger of big horsepower and heavy weight.
Check this guy out, skills are like 10.

I finally found a picture to my old 2005 zx-6r. Now let’s see if I can figure out how to post it.

I don’t own one – yet. But I have a friend who bought 3 in the last two years. A ZERO….(electric which he just traded in for a NEW zero)….. A retro style Honda…… and a higher riding black horse Susuki. I think he put it off for many years and now he’s mad for motorcycles. He’s got all kinds of gear and 6 helmets, like 12 leather jackets, and is motorcycle bingeing.

Personally, I have been eyeing the 2008 Ducati Sport for YEARS now. Every once in a while I go over to Ebay and see if there is an Orange one or a Vanilla/Cream and Black. For some reason, I can’t keep my eyes off this bike.

I think I want it in this color:

… but if money were no object, THIS WOULD BE IT. Dear Santa……

    Gentlemen. September 27th. World wide.

    The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride

If you have a motorcycle, I highly recommend it. It’s one of the only charity events for prostate cancer in a sea of pink ribbons. Also they’re not as stuck up about the particular bike you ride as the website would have you believe. Clothes make the man, not his motorcycle.

If you don’t have a bike, why not? You can probably contact your local ride and find someone willing to let you ride pillion. Or just show up at the stopping points to check out the bikes. The local one stops at some places with great food, so it’s worth it just for that. And of course anyone can donate to prostate cancer research.

Maybe this needs its own thread.

I do like bikes, but Im a wuss and a daredevil at the same time. Basically it’s a very nasty combination – I would s~~~ my pants and test every turn’s/street speed limit I can get in and out with at the same time.

So generally, I would want to “relax’ on some dirty roads, I would love an ATV like this, over a bike or a car even.
    Polaris Sportsman WV850

I would try to kill those non-pneumatic tires over mud and rocks with such a pleasure. <3 😀
