Read an “USA Today Network” article yesterday that described a former Army veteran who voluntarily was protecting a school in the Fort Wayne Indiana area. He was armed with an AR-16, hand gun and ensured that he communicated with the school’s resource officer and area police about his plan.

He indicated that he “is there because he’s concerned about the safety of those inside”. He also states that he plans to be parked outside until there’s a security upgrade to the school.

Consider him a patriot, a radical, an extremist, or just a nut; but he’s got my vote and I would help him if he were to call for assistance.

The Oath Keepers <link for more information> were mentioned in the story, however this was the first time that I have heard of them. Would appreciate hearing from anyone with first hand experience with this group.

    About

Oath Keepers is a non-partisan association of current and formerly serving military, police, and first responders, who pledge to fulfill the oath all military and police take to “defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” That oath, mandated by Article VI of the Constitution itself, is to the Constitution, not to the politicians, and Oath Keepers declare that they will not obey unconstitutional orders, such as orders to disarm the American people, to conduct warrantless searches, or to detain Americans as “enemy combatants” in violation of their ancient right to jury trial.

You don’t want to read how the southern poverty law center describes Oath Keepers, but then it shouldn’t be a surprise.
