A civil servant who partially blinded a pensioner in a heated row about whether male and female tennis players should be paid the same at Wimbledon has been jailed for two years.

Jonathan Dalton, 27, threw the single punch at Charles Bonello, 69, on a train from London Bridge on 3 July last year.

His victim needed 12 stitches after a disagreement sparked by disparaging comments Mr Bonello is said to have made when comparing the salaries of male and female tennis players at Wimbledon. He was left with only partial sight in his right eye and was punched so hard he was convinced the man had used a knuckle duster.

Dalton’s girlfriend overheard the man and moved to sit opposite him on the carriage and nodded to her lover after hearing more, the court heard. The 27-year-old then rose from his seat to launch the blow before fleeing down the train where he left as it pulled into Deptford Station, Blackfriars Crown Court heard.

But it really does show you how crap the younger generations are. It’s sad and pathetic how deeply feminized Western men have become. At least this 69 year old had some shred of masculinity in him. Unfortunately he is rare and truthfully his generation was on watch and let this happen, so he is not absolved of blame. The 70s were when this really started to happen. This guy would certainly have been old enough at that point to have protested and stopped it, but he, like most others of that generation, refused to do a thing.
