I don’t think it has to do with sexual equality or how much income a woman has. For me it has to do with not wanting a controlling, manipulative person in my house making my life miserable. If divorce laws were fair, making marital relationships fair, and women able to just let me be me, I might consider marriage but that’s not the world we live in. Besides, why buy the cow when they’re giving the milk for free?

Really though, if the man doesn’t earn more than the woman, it hurts the divorce industrial complex. That’s the bottom line. So ship up fellas! Go to college, earn big money and get married so the divorce settlements are larger. Or else…shudder…women will have to start paying alimony!

ETA: I wonder if there’s been a study done which shows if the divorce rate is lower when the woman in the family earns more than the man. Hmmmmm.

Thing is, if you are the sort of hard working, educated, successful man the gold diggers demand, the LAST thing you want to do is let some gold digging slore f~~~ that up for you. You do not want to sign on the bottom line. And with all the little gold diggers desperate to land a lucrative divorce, you never need to sign on the bottom line anyways. They are easier than chinese take out.

I used to think finding a woman would be the greatest thing ever, for one thing, NAWALTS are rare, they are snapped up quickly, but the way most women are, it’s just head down depressing.

Married guy (20% higher):
Annual Income: $60 000

Just an example, of course, however…

Realistically speaking if your married, that extra 20% your earning is going down to expenses that a single guy would not have anyway such as day care, wives parlor trips etc..

Now imagine if your not married and your earning that extra 20% – you wont ever see me again cause I’d be travellin.

Of course the non married guy gets to spend or save all that $48k himself, while Mr. Married only gets a $100 a month allowance from Wifey. So I suspect the causality goes both ways there. Married men earn more by selection bias because women only want top earners, while unmarried men earn less because they don’t need to earn more and prefer to have more free time to themselves.

I mean I could certainly earn more money if I had to, but I don’t have to. So instead I get to go outside and play. I got 99 expenses, but a bitch ain’t one.
