I can’t think of any time an ex has wanted to try and get back together with me. I chalk this up to two different factors. First I tend to end it early before she gets much chance to attach emotionally. The other is that I never give a reason for ending it. I just don’t want to be around her anymore. It’s not about her bad behavior or anything. There is nothing that can be fixed. It’s not up for debate or discussion.

The result is that they are too stunned to know how to respond to that. They can’t come back later to try an manipulate me as they have no angle of attack. They usually resort to concluding the problem is me. I’m either some sort of player who used them, or I’ve got emotional/commitment issues. Both reasons are fine with me.

Good post OP but I would be very wary of going out to sit beside any woman/exGF that comes to my house uninvited. I would not do it. One time a crazy stalker woman (that was never my GF) waited for me outside the apartment where I was living. When I declined her request to be “friends” she went nuts attacking me verbally and physically. Never again will I put myself in that situation.
