I’ve always had a passion for tech so I’m trying to get into computer engineering and/or programing. I put my life on hold when my daughter was born so I have to finish my schooling.

There are many of us on here who started going our own way very early in life and completely avoided much of the hell that others here have endured. Where you go from here, you already know, it is entirely up to you.

Excellent.  Get the right certifications and so on, and show competency, making sure you are in the right spot, if that is your thing, and you should be good to go.  Make sure you get connections and so on, and have ways to show off your skills. Myself I have a Masters in the area of IT, but no longer have a passion for it, so it isn’t a fit for me now.  Any passion got ripped out of me by being downsized by IBM.  It was more of doing it for the money back in the 90s, without regard for that is what I was called to do.  Then the whole post-Y2K world hit and blammo, ever decreasing pay helpdesk/phone support area.  So, that is why I said what I said, which seems to show up all over.
