What Did She See In Him

Written in response to the nice specimen who muttered “What does she see in him” when the Portuguese Tease and I were shopping in Asda.
Perhaps she would like to board my spaceship.

She saw ocean blue windows that were doused in fire
She saw determination aroused amongst the mire

She saw care that was laid bare
A desire that she never shared

She saw comfort in open arms
She saw patience to sooth the calm

She saw strength beneath the shell
She saw an angel to rescue from hell

She saw tears glistening in a restless soul
She saw his fears listening as the bottle took its hold

She saw kindness when all she knew was pain
A blindness to her world insane

She saw sexual prowess
She saw her mirrored mess

She saw the dull ache of loneliness
She saw a tender touch that was too much, nonetheless

She saw the frailty in a hard body
She saw a genuineness in somebody

She saw a painted smile
She saw it fixed in denial

She saw someone who could save
That saw in her someone who could never behave

She saw a life that could be grasped, but never be taken hold
She saw a new life, but couldn’t let go of the old
