It’s official. He’s @POTUS on twitter now too.

    Obamas tweets are all gone.

Welcome President Trump. A truly incredible feat and accomplishment. Beat out 16 other guys to be the nominee against all odds, beats his opponent, the Clinton Foundation is down, and now officially @POTUS.

By the way, did anybody else notice the scowl of Michelle’s face during the entire service??

There’s a term for it, Resting Bitch Face.

Someone like Trump might have been the right choice for president at some other time in history. He could have made a difference standing apart from the establishment. But at this moment, there’s only one issue that really matters, and it’s one where Trump (based on his rhetoric, at least) is even worse than the establishment politicians…namely, deficit spending.

Ever read any history about the politics of the 1850’s? There were a lot of issues that a lot of politicians expended a lot of time and energy on. But history has mostly forgotten about all of them, except for one: slavery. When the politics of our present time becomes ancient history, no one will care about futile attempts to build border walls and preserve manufacturing jobs, childish tweets, Russian hackers, etc. The only thing that will matter is that the politicians of today are continuing the modern paradigm of buying votes with borrowed money.

Maybe we’ll get a pleasant surprise and Trump will decide to do what’s best for the future of the country. But so far, it doesn’t look promising. Trump doubles down on everything that conventional politicians do…acting like there’s a bottomless pit of money to spend on everything from infrastructure projects to bigger military budgets to universal health care, while promising tax cuts and pretending it will all work out fine “because I’m so awesome, the economy will boom like it’s never boomed before”.

Trump could be the Abraham Lincoln of the national debt crisis, but so far he’s acting like the James Buchanan.
