which one do you guys prefer? i’m a cardio guy myself. just personal preference, but i’ve found that the lean-muscle that you gain from running/biking/martial arts isn’t as attractive to women. they view it as being emaciated. i’m at a point where i don’t want women looking at me so this benefits me. i noticed some dudes will lift to gain the attraction, and shut them down. can’t say i wouldn’t enjoy that. you’re literally in a position to give them some of their own s~~~.

also: any martial artists here? if so what form? and do you strength train as well to bulk up, or do you stick to body resistance, and technique?

I focus on cardio, but I also do a lot of strength training (not really with weights though). So I do HIIT for cardio and also a cycle of pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups, and a few nasty things of my own invention. 🙂

I am pretty well-defined. Not a body builder but certainly in solid all-around shape. 6’0″ and 180 lbs.

I get noticed by women and I am a friendly guy but I also developed something of an “unapproachable” air when I’m out in public. So it’s rare that I get harassed.

I’d say it all depends on what you want. Do you want to lose weight and be lean and mean? Go cardio. Weights if you want to pack on some muscle. I’d say so far as health goes, cardio is probably better overall. A Lot can be achieved with a little cardio. Heart health, lung health, everything improves with cardio for health.

Strength training is valuable simply as a storage for blood sugars. The body stores its sugars in the liver and in skeletal muscle. The liver has a limited storage capacity, but skeletal muscle is theoretically limitless.

Having more of your blood sugars stored in muscle means the pancreas and endocrine system have to work less to keep your sugars level and reduces the likelihood of diabetes.

To your other point: “but i’ve found that the lean-muscle that you gain from running/biking/martial arts isn’t as attractive to women. My response is: “Who cares what women find attractive.” 15 years ago, the claimed they wanted a shaved chest, perfect hair with lots of styling gel, $3,000 suits [i.e. the MetroF~~]. Now they want the Paul Bunyan look, and the men keep jumping through the hoops. 20 somethings now have scraggly beards, flannel shirts, and enough hair on their backs to knit a sweater.

There are still red pills waiting to be digested for anyone who considers female whims before deciding between cardio and weights. I am cardio but need to work also on strenght for my own reasons. Off topic now, on todays related news from Finland where mgtow i portrayed as obese sloth, i am pretty sure that i am in better shape than vast majority of readers of that article.

As a diabetic I’ve found this to be true. Muscle mass keeps your sugars low. But then so does booze and its easier to lift a three finger drink than 100lb weight. Sooooo

Have different reasons to prefer each.

Weight for strength mostly, also appearance & trimming.
( increases my appetite. I could eat a horse. )

Cardio I hate , except it makes me eat less. Appetite decreases, and it forces me to drink more because I cardio to sweat buckets. I like a really good sweat. I just hate to run and bounce around.

yeah that’s what i like about cardio. my energy level is just go-go-go. even strength training for me has to involve some form of movement or i’ll try and get serious about it, but then give up.

I like a balanced approach-the classic 3days of full body workout with 3 days of cardio and walking the dog 5-6 days a week. That being said exercise to live your life for other things, hobbies, job and enjoyment of life.

Could give a rats ass about what any woman thinks or does not think about my physique. I do a combo because I feel better toned but the cardio helps the immune system and helps blow off stress.

Seriously though, used to do martial arts back in 6th grade but I got a spine injury so I had to quit. It took a few years to completely recover but by that time I had other things going on.

I likely would not be into workouts very much if it weren’t for my job. I work on Forest Service Hotshot crews and we have a rigorous PT program every summer. If you can’t keep up, you may lose your job. The health and image benefits from being in shape are just icing on the cake. 🙂

I do circuit training lifting heavy on various machines and with free weights at the gym, and am in great muscular shape (though I say it myself :))

Bodyweight training, gymnastics and calisthenics are great ways to get in shape and also give you a very tangible result in the long term not just on physique, but being able to work up toward badass exercises (handstand pushups, planche, 1 arm handstands etc.) Been doing them for years and it’s always something cool to keep one focused and busy.

For weight training, which I started a couple months ago to get away from the plain old routine, I’m trying Vince Gironda’s 8×8 system for cardio and hypertrophy gains. Started about 2 weeks ago putting it into my routine and I’m personally noticing gains. Keeping the weights at 50% of your maximum potential, doing them slowly with high time under tension with minimal rest in between (15-30 seconds) for 8 sets of 8 really burns out the muscle, keeps the intensity high and the workout short so it doesn’t drag out. 3-4 exercises per workout is more than enough.

On a personal note, I find that getting in shape, all in all, tends to reciprocate on the way you present yourself to the world. It makes you look more disciplined, more bold, practical, like a person who can get the job done, without having to explain yourself as much with words. It’s half the battle. Less people f~~~ with you, manginas won’t try pushing their paradigms on you as much, etc. I find that I can be kind but not exploited for it and my boundaries are much more respected without as much effort. It could be argued though, that the more jacked you look, the more of a target you become to the gynocentric society. From my experience as of late, I don’t see it, but probably because I don’t flaunt wealth. I dress simple and casual.

And in this day and age where there’s so much tension and division within western society, I prefer to put on that image so I don’t become an easy target for these globalist punks. On the other hand, I can see the pitfall of some chick trying to play the victim card on you and making you look like the bully. As a well educated MGTOW, it shouldn’t be too hard to not put yourself in such situations to begin with.

Just my 2 cents as a 25 year old young adult. These are the alternative motivation factors that come to mind when it comes to fitness goals beyond just “female validation”. Enjoying what you do too, first and foremost.

Lifting to get big is more appealing when you are younger, as you age it is much better to stay light and fit for many reasons, f~~~ what women want.

good to see another young mgtow here. that was just my left brain throwing out a thought. i wouldn’t actually get ripped to get attention. i just happened to enjoy exercises that have a certain result, and women have their preconceived notions about it.

I was an initial attack pumper slug back when I was in college. No offense, we always hoped we got the fire put out before we had to call you guys in. That’s a great job, just don’t let you boss get over confident. That’s when injuries and death happen. I had a friend that was a hot shot that died on a fire in Colorado about 25 years ago. They blamed it on the “can do” attitude of the boss, which meant that he got c~~~y.

    Good luck to you bro.

hell yeah i separated from my gym 6-7 months ago. i’ve been itching to get back into it. the place i want to go to is far away though, and i don’t feel comfortable fighting for anyone else so i gotta work to get closer to the place. i started a martial arts youtube channel to keep it at the front of my mind until i can train again.

Yep, we have no complaints when the IA guys are able to get the fires out before we arrive. 🙂 Usually when we get called in it’s for the big fires that are starting to make the news.

I’ve been around a few authority figures in fire that were way too overconfident or c~~~y. They usually annoyed me and I just tried to avoid them as much as possible. You’re right–they aren’t safe.

Back to the fitness topic, one of the reasons I try to stay in great shape is because you’re more likely to avoid injury that way. An important consideration for some career paths.

Very true. As they used to say “Assholes and elbows, that’s all I want to see.” You have a tough job. You guys are badass!
