I have problems with this website every day. It freezes up and won’t do anything, just this site no others on my browser. Sometimes I can get it to come back up but I cannot click on things like “forums”, “about’ and “archives”. I am not sure if its is a daily maintenance, mid afternoon for me on west coast USA, or something else. Anyone else have problems? Is the site being “DOS attacked”?

You can’t click on the menu items? Send a report of any problem like that through the contact form and it will send your browser information along with it and then we can test it for your configuration. Or you can tell us what you’re using right here.

Something did happen to about 20 minutes ago and we jumped on the problem. Appears to be fixed although we are still poking around. As far as we can tell, back to expected normal behavior now. Some maintenance was required.

Yes sometimes there are malicious attempts but that’s to be expected.

Sometimes I too have issues. Think a few times it was a maint. deal.

I just had to log out and back in myself, but there is a msg on the site, saying it may happen.

Yes… keep in mind, The forums are continually active. Its a section on the site where users create posts – and members join all the time. We can’t actually “pause” this to investigate problems and then resume – without putting up a page that says “we need to work , please f~~~ off for a few minutes”… so we try and work around it while the site is still running.

We intentionally created a cutting edge site making use of the latest technologies here and it’s more forward thinking than backward compatible. So IE8 or 9 users won’t have a pleasant experience. Neither will those with slow connections or people who live in trailers or their “mother’s basement”. (MGTOW inside joke)

We can however be very glad that we are doing something RIGHT, because in the last months, average time on the site has increased by 194%. Almost 15 minutes and at least 7 pages per visitor is incredible. Average time spent on Jezebel is 4 minutes. Our bounce rate is also very low. (Thats people who leave as soon as they arrive). Jezebel’s bounce rate is higher than 50%. Pathetic.

Visitors are on our site twice as long as AVFM and we have the highest visitor “loyalty” than any site in the Manosphere. Last few days have been record traffic too.

Eventually we will get to the point where the site can be *left alone* and it will run itself without constant improvements , but there’s alot going on in the back and under the hood. We always working on new stuff and the archives. Just yesterday we updated http://mgtow.com/audios/ and before that, we added “latest topics and replies” to the bottom of every forums page. All of these things can contribute to a little screwup here and there, but don’t worry, we s~~~ our pants and sweat bullets every time that happens and are all over it when something goes wrong.

One day the site will be what we want it to be, and then that stuff won’t happen anymore…. or at least, far more rarely.
For now, our hands are dirty every day.

But that would give me time to make a sandwich or grab a beer 🙂

If I can click on it I sure will. Thanks. Yes I had forgotten once or twice it was maintenance and that just requires a browser reboot. I’m using a nice gaming rig I built a year ago with Comcast(I know) 60mb ISP and the latest Firefox with the Ghostery addon.

Copy that, I kinda figured as well. Just hoping I wasn’t being singled out, lol. Thanks again KM.
