    Mass production, the automated assembly line. We live in an age where the “poor” can own cars and TVs. Within living memory, they were lucky to be able to afford heat in the winter and luxury goods were simply out of the question.

    Communications. Today, your average Joe can walk down the street and and talk to someone on the other side of the world. 100 years ago, the wealthiest person on the planet couldn’t do that. Cell phones are an immense invention.
