Backstory, health and fitness has always been a big part of my life. I have a family of athletes and when I was growing up, junk food was not allowed in the house. I actually considered cheerios (plain cheerios) a treat. At the time I did not appreciate it but now that I am an adult it is worked out for the better. I’m 37 people assume I’m in my late 20s or early 30s. With that, I hate it when I hear the following:
Oh you don’t want to go drinking all night with us on Friday because you don’t want a Saturday morning hangover all to exercise/train? What’s wrong with you? You’re obsessed!!
No I am not obsessed I am dedicated to living a healthy life. I like to feel good. I don’t want to just feel good for a few hours to feel like s~~~ for a few days (Such as drinking or doing drugs). But I like to feel good all the time.
Anyone else have a response to you’re obsessed?
If it costs you your peace of mind, then it is too expensive.
Having a clear goal and focused mindset has nothing to do with being obsessed. You have your life sorted out for yourself, you know what you need and what you do not need. If that makes you obsessed in the eyes of your peers than so be it, it does not need to be negative. But I am sure you already knew that:)
And I have been called obsessed myself, a number of times regarding a variety of different subjects. As I see it, the name calling itself is just plain shaming language. Nothing to take heed towards.
I have been called obsessed regarding:
– My interest in academical fields such as history and social-anthropology.
– My interest i politics and the ways of the world.
– My accuracy of doing work as good as can be done, always.
etcTogether with the word “obsessed”, other words usually follows such as narrow-minded, extreme and a know-it-all. These words bounces of like hail towards a metal plate. There is nothing wrong with having interests of your own. I find the best response to such remarks is to just show that you do not care. Show that you do not need their recognition in regards to how you see yourself.
Sometimes being silent have a far better impact than a thousand well-spoken words.

Live your life the way you want. Seek no validation from anybody, to include your buddies.
It’s your life. You can say the same about anyone that does things like that.
“You go out drinking every Friday night? YOU’RE OBSESSED!”
It’s just some old shaming language. They want you to live your life the way THEY want you to live it. It’s YOUR life, and you’ll probably live longer and be happier than they will.
Feminism is a movement where opinions are presented as facts and emotions are presented as evidence.
or : You’re obsessed!!
My response: Lick me where I pee. When women lead, destruction is the destination. -- Me.
“Go forth and multiply”
That should help them understand.
Failing that tell the to “foxtrot oscar”
Don’t give a s~~~ of what others think about you. You’re the one living better than them. The more you don’t let opinionated people get to you, the happier you’ll be.
