Looking back, through television shows, movies, books, life experiences, it seems in the 60s, thru the 80s, that people had liquor at work, liquor at home, liquor or wine at dinner, two martini lunches, just a lot of drinking everywhere.

Was everyone’s tolerance a lot higher or were most people going through life with a fairly perpetual buzz? Was life different because everyone was drunk half the time?

Am I missing out because I don’t drink very often? Maybe life is different with the constant buzz..

No longer can we walk away, we must run. Remove the motive power.

Well from what I have read. At that point in time hollywood was snorting a mountain of cocaine at the time. And since they could not show their characters snorting cocaine, they substituted alcohol in those scenes.

The 1980s saw much higher levels of drink driving than nowadays.

If you look at old movies they show people drinking alot. To glamorize it I guess.
But in the 80’s everyone was doing blow. It was f~~~ing everywhere.

I was in one of the first DUI check points ever.1981. A long line of traffic.By the time I got to it, they had left, I then saw it on the news.
Back in the day, alot of times they would put you in the drunk tank, and then let you go in the morning.

When I watch the old Dean Martin celebrity roasts it’s amazing to see them all constantly smoking. Of course, Dean Martin always played at being drunk, but I’ve read that most of the time he was sober. The old Johnny Carson shows also had everyone smoking…except Johnny.
