I was thinking about all the active volcanos in the news recently. Kilauea in Hawaii, Fuego in Guatemala… anyway, I realized in the old days they’d just toss a virgin in there and bam! Problem solved.
Looks like the volcanoes have won this round gentleman. They’re at no risk from humanity stopping them anymore
Anonymous42Good! More ash!
Colder temperatures!
BETTER SKIING CONDITIONS!

My thoughts exactly!

May 18, 2018, Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano has another massive eruption.
May 18, 1980, Mt Saint Helens, Washington had a major eruption event. So what happened on May 18, 1785 you might ask, 1/2 of the residents of Aogashima (Japanese island 200 miles due south of Tokyo) were killed during a volcano eruption. While there were only 327 residents at that time, they had no time to evacuate.
Why you ask??? The bizarre fact is the town of Aogashima is built within an active volcano! More information
This might, just might, be competition for a MGTOW.com sanctuary. If folks get out of line, yes you Tower, they just get fed to the volcano in line with Trapper’s comments. Geothermal heat source and ocean breezes year round, what’s not to like!

To those following me, be careful, I just farted. Men those beans are killers.

I knew you’d be rooting for the volcanoes! Come on dizastor!

I feel a little safer this morning .. I just ordered my first 60 watt portable folding solar panel .. why?, it makes me smile. Very tiny and it didn’t cost much.
Volcanoes, natural disasters .. I’ve been thinking that I need to start somewhere, I;ve got to do something in the direction of self sufficiency beyond my gas generator and my wood supply for my stove; and the twenty gallons of water I keep stored .. so I also got a small 100 watt solar battery generator with his panel.
It’s not much, but it will help .. and it takes away that ‘cold-silent and funny feeling’ when the power goes down .. that feeling when you go into a room and accidentally flip the switch and there’s nothing .. just a dark hallway or bathroom or closet.Yes, we will be having Volcanoes, storms and also .. some unexpected “good times” mixed in .. and no matter what happens .. I’ll have my little 100 watts to light a ‘light” .. play some music or just set up a small fan and sit in the breeze until the battery goes down .. and more than that if I spread out the panels and re-charge.
I feel good about things when I keep some control .. for that reason I’ve also taken a few funds and bought a fairly decent 1500 w UPS that will keep me going as well when the power lines occasionally run dry. Solar is a fairly big decision .. I’m not there yet .. I’ve put my toe in the water.
As a refuge of last resort .. when all else fails and if the down time is going to run beyond two or three hours .. I’ll have to get down and dirty “yes .. making power isn;t fun and sometimes a smelly and dirty mess” .. I’ll haul out the little orange Generac and start pouring fuel and running those heavy 10 gauge cords and power up the fridge and freezer and a few lights as I keep a few beverages and all the rest cool. ..
It’s important to sit back at that point and listen to the comforting “steady purrrr” of the little frugal inverter ever so slightly sipping on gas as my world flickers back to life .. totally separated from the Utility company who I just don’t always trust to keep things going.
My power poles that feed my house have stamps on them from the 1930’s .. yes the poles and the wires are approaching 90 years old .. my solar panel and battery bank is new, my generator is new and I am planning beyond the power company who gives me no vote in updating the infrastructure. I will do my own planning.
Volcano, storm, brownout, blackout .. I’ll be here and things will go on .. I’m currently saving for a second generator .. a small one, so quiet at 59 db, you can just barely hear it running at 50 feet away.
.. about 900 watts of clean stable inverter power feeding the UPS .. just big enough to power my DVD player, TV and mini-frig and a few lights .. a fan .. as I continue my Sci-fi summer evening marathon, uninterrupted .. grid or not. I will go on .. in some comfort .. even when the street lights go out.Heck .. that tiny and lightweight little mini-suitcase size generator will run about thirteen hours on a gallon and that one gallon of fuel will power ..
..actually, that’s about 16 Trek episodes .. with lunch breaks included. Hva grt day. I will, too.
I need to stock up on good cigars and brandy………
thats what i call a prepared men.
i just got popcorn, im gonna watch that mother f~~~er burn.

I don’t have a generator anymore. Just one of the things that I lost in the divorce. I’ve been wanting to start back up on the self sustained power thing lately.

I’ll be smoking and drinking while you’re eating.
Also need to stock up on more ammunition. When the end comes, you know there’ll be some bastards wanting to take what I have and I’ll have no problem at all shooting them down. I’ll hang their bodies on the fence lining the road up to my house. That should deter future trespassers.

Also, nothing says leave me alone better than a head on a stick. A few of those on the property and you should be good. Ha!

Indeed, I used to do that with coyotes and it does work.
The whole “Ring of Fire” has been very active this year. The photos of the aftermath of that Guatemalan volcano reminded me of Pompei. Mother Nature always wins in the end and there is no stopping her wrath when she’s p~~~ed.

Ah yes……and that will be easier than dragging the entire body around. Very good.

Anonymous42It’s really nice being ants located on the end the log that isn’t on fire!
How much was that 60 watt solar panel and where did you buy it?
I went with the little PAXCESS portable panel that runs somthing under 60 watts in full sunlight. I also got the little 100 Watt solar generator.
I plan to use the battery a few times each month for various things, so that way .. always will try and keep it charged and stored ready to keep a few lights on and some things running and charged .. until I can figure out if it’s a longer term or short outage.
If it’s short .. this is all I really need along with the UPS .. if it’s longer .. I might then have to drag out the cables and bigger things needed for refrig and freezer and induction hotplate for cooking.I watched a video of Kilauea last night. There was a night shot of the lava going over a cliff into the sea. The Hawaiian version of Niagara Falls. There was a giant pool of lava below being fed by the falls. Every time the waves would crash onto the lava the water would immediately flash to steam, sending clouds of steam out to sea.
Nature always wins in the end and there is no stopping her wrath when she’s p~~~ed.
Even the ocean is no match for Kilauea.

I’m going to be looking into this and possibly get something much larger. I won’t need it to run more than a couple lights and the TV and a fan, but I want it to run them for a long time.

Indeed Sir. Here is a satellite view of the lava flow courtesy of https://www.space.com/40784-hawaii-kilauea-volcano-new-satellite-photos.html
