I posted about 3 months ago that my career was in jeopardy. I was sued by a previous employer. Long story short – They were crooked as Fk. Screwing me on commissions, paying me late, not paying vendors and tampering with our 401(k) etc.
I lashed out at them on my way out and violated my non-solicitation. Save me the rhetoric about how these never hold up because they do. My lawyer settled and I paid reparations but now I’m a bit untouchable in my industry b/c this has lengthened my non-solicitation and I have a blemish on my name – even though the guy I worked for was a total crook.
So – here I am. 3 months unemployed. I haven’t had to touch any retirement yet but things are getting tight.
I have a pretty low cost of living b/c I’ve been smart with money – but I’m still paying off the f~~~ing divorce raping legal bills and need to land something.
Anyone here do any work abroad? Expat stuff that pays well? I wouldn’t mind getting out of this area (keeping my house, etc) but making some great money in a foreign land.
Ideas?? Thoughts??
Forget the past. You must unlearn what you have learned. You have a great opportunity to do whatever you want to do. Think of the freedom.
Expat jobs suck. Just think how many lazy 20 something tatted bitches say I’m going to Thailand to teach English? They don’t pay much. You are still working for the man and conditions are s~~~ in a foreign country. Also the type of people are greasy. Sex predators and lazy backpackers. Combat Roll I think you are better than that.
Field service/ consultant work is much better, you still work for the man but get paid at a US rate and your company pays for housing and food. You often work alone and unsupervised. Or you can create your own service company and do it by contract. There are so many jobs US companies are hiring anyone with skill. Apply even if you think you aren’t qualified.
Just my 2 cents. Wish you well Sir.
Galatians 5:1 (KJV) Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Ever thinking of renting a spare bedroom in your house? It’s immediate cash flow. You’ll have to put up with someone else living there. But if it’s a local engineering school kid or if you screen out problems, it is possible you might never see them. Maybe not a long-term solution but might keep your ship sailing til you land a job.
I took a side warehouse gig on the weekends. It was ok. I learned I could live off of that low hourly wage, which in itself was a good lesson.

Just my 2 cents. Wish you well Sir.Can you be more specific – Field Service? I was in industrial sales and made good money for 18 years – I’m interviewing for another job just like it – but what this has taught me is to DOWNSIZE and save more. I was wasting so much money. Don’t get me wrong – I was maxing out 401(k) but since I lost my job I have cut cost and now I know I can put away a lot more.

I have my daughter 50% of the time. She’s a total bitch to me, but I don’t think I could just have someone (especially a dude) in my house whom I haven’t known for a very long time.

The Canadian military are taking in people (even non-Canadians) over 50 years old if they can pass the physical and they need whatever skills/abilities that you have to offer bad enough.
Not an ideal suggestion perhaps but it would beat starving or freezing to death…
What I’m saying is be creative. You are a seasoned Industrial sales leader. Look up every large construction company in that part of the world. Look for the smaller ones that want to expand their business. You know how to do that, you are valuable. Show them your skill. Many of these remote places have supply chain problems when building a large complex. Heavy industrial is everywhere bro! I was on the island of Negros Oriental in the Philippines. They were building everywhere. It was remote as it gets bro.
Just do it! You got nothing to lose. Health care is good anyplace. Work for yourself as a growth consultant for an industrial supply company. That culture still respects quiet men. They always gave me time to speak. Chinese are hiring as well. They are building in Cambodia. It’s cheap there, but that place gives me the creeps. The girls are nuts though. Be real hard to stay monk there.
Wish I was you. Someday they will kick me on my way like you. I won’t hesitate, I will be gone in 30 days. Cash out of the matrix.

Look into other products to sell. If you can sell one thing you can sell another. I’ve made a fortune in the insurance business.
i taught math in a mid-east country. free housing, about $3200/mo usd. tax free. students also bribe you for grades. you can live off bribes and save your salary 100% every month.
I bathe in the tears of single moms.
Well,
This is taking longer than I thought. I literally went from having 3 companies courting me aggressively 1.5 years ago to CRICKETS.
I’ve sent a lot of resumes out and other than insurance companies calling me back I’ve not heard much. I even hired a service to “market” me.
I was fortunate to make great money for 15 years running so even after giving the Selfish One half if I don’t touch my 401(k) I’ll be fine. But, I may have to take a job doing “something” soon.
Also selling the silly s~~~ I bought over the years. Boat, Hot Tub that she “had to have”, etc.
I’d also like to sell my house which has a lot of equity and with only my Selfish One’s prodigy staying here 50% of the time I don’t need it.
How Nice will it be to free of all this “S~~~” I’ve accumulated over the years and be free to just take off!

There are a TON of these companies calling me. I’ve been 100% commission for the last 18 years, so I’m used to that part. Any specific insurance products I should focus on?
Thanks for the suggestion – I’ll look into it more.
Funny – a girl suggested renting a room from me. She’s hot and makes great money – she just wants to put more away.
No way, unless of course you actually want to lose the house. ‘She’s hot’ suggests that you are vulnerable.
I have my daughter 50% of the time. She’s a total bitch to me.
That’s serious trouble waiting to happen. Get rid.
Look for the smaller ones that want to expand their business.
Maybe in the high-tech sector. Do some research and look for the coming thing.
Sounds like you been blacklisted. Given details of your situation, i’d think so.
Do sales in another Industry, or take a menial job to stretch your living money.Beans &Hot dogs and Hamburger w/rice aren’t so bad once ya get your mind right about it.
DO what YOU gotta do!Marry again, Hell NO ! ( Even JESUS was hung on a cross just once)
Ever thinking of renting a spare bedroom in your house?
Ive been wanting to do that. I talked about it about 2 years ago and BrainPilot suggested I put up an advert at a local medical college.
Recently I was contacted but I think it may be a con artist… either that or a really dumb woman. LOL.
I have been romancing the idea of renting to a woman, cohabitating for the sake of an extra $400 a month.
WHAT THE FVCK WAS I THINKING. Just reading a few posts here today has brought me back to sanity. Thank god.Id still rent the room, but it has to be a Guy.
Theirs a couple things you can do
1) Take a different job, even in a different industry. Even if it pays less some income is better than none.
2) See this as a call to action in life to make some changes. Even if you have to touch your retirement savings you have the freedom and opportunity to make radical changes in your life
3) Do nothing and hope you find some other related work soon (it doesn’t sound like you can afford to be idle for much longer but maybe you need a break).
4) Rent out part or your entire place and move somewhere less appealing, possibly still take a job outside of your field. For the near foreseeable future you should be able to manage.

Thanks for the suggestion – I’ll look into it more.Stay away from personal lines Property and casualty. High overhead, small commission percentage, ponderous service. Dying business, it’s all going to the internet. Commerical property and casualty still a viable business. You would need to get into a big agency that has the contracts with carriers that can sell in many different markets. Agents that do well are ones who develop a niche market. “There’s riches in niches.” Commerical group health insurance is also a dying business. Rates are off the charts. Small business ditching it. With the advent of Obamacare individual health insurance is not a bad side business. Good place to get started. Life insurance is still a good business in conjunction with something else, but you need a good system of company developed leads. Or one that sells into a niche market. If you have to entirely develop leads yourself, you’ll fail.
STAY AWAY FROM PRIMEAMERICA!! Multi level marketing bulls~~~.
IMO the best insurance business is one that sells into the Senior markets. Medicare Advantage, Medicare supplements, annuities, dental programs, single premium life policies, Long Term Care programs. The older people have the money and want to do business with a local person instead of the internet. Low to no overhead. Easy to get started. Exploding market. Another good senior market is final expense. Small life polices to older people. Good place to start. Easy to get started. Lots of companies have leads. Little to no overhead. Good place to in and get your feet wet.
