A general discussion to air opinions on the UK’s membership of the EU.
On 23rd June 2016, we will be deciding whether to stay in the EU or leave it. As of the time of writing (21:00 BST 19th June) opinion is split directly 50/50.
Over the past few months, we have been told that leaving the EU will lead to
– World War 3
– The devastation of our economy
– The loss of free bus passes for pensionersAnd that staying in the EU will lead to
– Uncontrolled immigration
– The UK having to bail out the Euro
– A Pan-EU army which Britain will have to pay for and staff as all the other countries except Germany are broke and for some strange reason not everyone is comfortable with Germany staffing and managing a Pan-EU armyI am firmly for “leave”. We have to pay a s~~~load of money to Brussels and they waste it, our courts can be overruled by the European Court of Human Rights, and any EU citizen – yes ANY EU citizen can live and work here, and benefit instantly from the NHS and our relatively non-murderous police force without having to contribute a penny in taxes beforehand.
Personally I am pretty comfortable standing back and watching the whole thing burn to the ground. It’s been heading that way since 1945 anyway. If the worst happens, I will just take an axe into the woods somewhere and sort myself out with a little cabin and the occasional rabbit stew.
Given the general “go you own way” philosophy of MGTOW I would expect guys on here to be broadly for “leave”, but what say you? Can anyone offer a decent reason for a self-respecting man to vote “remain”?
Because I’m getting a bit tired of paying taxes to support a bunch of lesbians in Brussels so they don’t starve to death while they’re telling me what an asshole I am.
You say "love is a temple, love the higher law" ...You ask me to enter, but then you make me crawl. And I can't be holding on to what you got, when all you got is hurt
I’m pro-Brexit.
My biggest issue is that the EU was meant to be a trade agreement between European countries but it’s increasingly become a move to create a super state similar to America in Europe.
There are far too many different languages and cultures in Europe to unify everybody together and it’s turning us all into a bland bureacratical mish mash of nothingness.
This and also the EU flag is crap.
Having been to both countries (Germany and the UK) for a considerable while and having gotten to “know” the English and their character well enough, I honestly could hardly blame them if they decided to leave, whatever the consequences may be after that. I only hope that if they leave that I can still keep my contacts and friends in the UK alive beyond that point in time…
I'd rather die a natual death with a clear MGTOW conscience somewhere off the grid than one within "modern" civilisation with a big stress mark on my forehead and a couple of dozen tubes plugged into my body. Over the past few months, we have been told that leaving the EU will lead to
– World War 3But wasn’t it just the sort of mutualist treaties like the EU that led to to first two wars?
– The devastation of our economy
As opposed to how the EU is already devastating it? Just be thankful as f~~~ you kept the pound instead of jumping on the euro bandwagon.
– The loss of free bus passes for pensioners
Also chickens will fly backwards and a dark star will appear in the sky. Sign and portents. Gloom and doom.
And that staying in the EU will lead to
– Uncontrolled immigrationLead to? It already is. Been going on for years. Hasn’t England noticed?
– The UK having to bail out the Euro
You forgot to add “again” at the end. The pound has had to bail out the euro many times already.
– A Pan-EU army which Britain will have to pay for and staff as all the other countries except Germany are broke and for some strange reason not everyone is comfortable with Germany staffing and managing a Pan-EU army
Wait a tick… if the U.K. sensibly bails on the E.U. it will cause World War Three, but then why would the E.U. be needing a pan-European army if it isn’t already preparing for World War Three in the first place?
Being in the E.U. is like being in a relationship with a single mother on welfare (or rather several). It’s not a question of getting out. The only question is why the f~~~ did you get in in the first place?
Is this whole EU thing similar to Texas wanting to secede in the past? Because if it is, I can understand how the UK wants to leave.
I’m just an American that gets confused as f~~~ about European politics.

Believe it or not, Anthony but there are times when I get just as confused about European politics as you are.
So what does that tell ya..?

Also pro-Brexit. The EU is a bunch of people who are unelected and largely unknown to the public, trying to run and control the lives of everyone else. Time for them to go.
Britain should get out and do it soon. The sovereignty of the UK is at stake. Britain has over a millenia of political, financial and social prowess most of which was built without the EU. Time for Britain to take a queue from MGTOW and go it’s own way too.
Believe it or not, Anthony but there are times when I get just as confused about European politics as you are.

Haha, it tells me not enough people know what the f~~~ is going on.
Government was one of my worst subjects in high school and college. I hated the subject in general.

Are you British or are you EUish?
At one time the British nearly ruled the whole damn planet. Now you need permission from Brussels to fish your own damn waters.

It really makes no difference now if Britain leaves EU or not.
Britain should never have entered into that association in the first place, but the big end of town
was hell bent on doing it and now the damage has been done. EU was newer about general population of any
country in the union, but it was a means of leaching trillions of Euros by big financial institutions
while leaving every one else to pick up the tab.Zero Tolerance
Having visited Germany this year for the first time I was amazed at how embarrassed they are about what happened during the war. The trouble is they are trying to over compensate and are so afraid of being seen as racist that they are letting pretty much anyone into their country. These immigrants are then causing all manor of problems, but this is obviously being covered up in the media. I suspect that the far right will start to grow again if this problem continues, so by overcompensating for the past they will cause history to repeat itself.
I personally am strongly in the leave camp as I think things are so bad now we need something to happen to shake things up. Immigration is becoming a massive problem now and we have to put a stop to it before English people are foreigners in their own country.
On a selfish level I have a six figure deposit sitting in a bank account getting a miserable 1.3% interest so I would love house prices to crash to enable me to buy somewhere.
It seems to me the main people who want to remain in the EU are the middle Englanders who are worried about their wealth disappearing. The sort of people who have a large buy to let portfolio and do not understand the problem when you need upwards of £100K in the bank to be lucky enough to be allowed to buy a one bedroom apartment.
For women, everything eventually boils down to Alpha Fucks, Beta Bucks.
I’m Pro-Brexit. not that my voice counts being here in ‘Murica. I am an anti-statist, so that alone seems justification for me, since the EU seems to typify everything wrong with state-centric authoritarianism.
Now, having said that I think the U.K. has some of the most Draconian measures on the books when it deals with issues regarding popular disarmament, violation of civilian rights et.al. (preempted on the list of 1st world countries by only 1 or two others) It still has a sound basis to be a powerful democracy.
“Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard
Personally i think it possible whatever happens and i wouldn’t put it past the government to rig the vote in their favour of staying.
There will be a recession, only a potential brexit will give them something to blame it on.
With everything that’s kicking off in the world, i think we are in for some interesting if dangerous times. I’m so glad i don’t have kids that this s~~~ is gonna have a knock on effect on.
Personally i would like to see us leave but as ever i don’t think it will make a whole lot of difference to average guys like myself. The rich and powerful will be fine as usual but it is concerning as to where it will all lead. And that’s if we stay or leave….

Anonymous0To my UK brothers, I would like to say this. I am an Australian of UK decent. I lived and worked in the UK for a number of years.
I understand the many reasons why you are feeling like separating from Europe and maybe you will. If so, then may all the very best be for the UK.
I see Europe and the UK as uniquely one culture but many. This/these civilisations have been invading and slaughtering each other for many centuries. They built similar structures we call castles to defend themselves against the similar weapons of the day as so it was with their technology before this period and after. They conquered each other and they conquered the world.
I see European cooperation now as an almost magical achievement, showing the world what can be done when weapons are put down and acceptance of similarities and differences is adopted.
Whatever the outcome this week, I feel the UK and Europe are inextricably bonded by the past and hopefully the future. Good luck guys.Having visited Germany this year for the first time I was amazed at how embarrassed they are about what happened during the war.
I heard that the Germans are taken for a tour around a concentration camp when they’re in school and reminded of what Hitler did to the Jews During WW2. They also get a lot of grief from other Europeans for the Nazi’s and the Holocaust when they’re on holiday in other European countries.
Some interesting points guys, and pretty much what I was thinking.
I’m just an American that gets confused as f~~~ about European politics.
None of us know what the f~~~ is going on over here either! It’s just two different sides saying “the other guy is wrong and we’re right”. The tune might be slightly different from American politics, but the words are the same the world over!

I know I joked about Germany in my OP but really speaking for myself, I can’t hold anything against young Germans because of what happened 50 years before they were born. But as you say, German over-compensation can cause problems. A related issue happened when Germans blocked quantitative easing in the Eurozone because of their memories of Weimar hyper-inflation. Not saying they were necessarily wrong to do that, but Germans are not Nazis, and Germany is not the same as it was in 1920.
World War Three will not happen if the UK leaves the EU. NATO is way more of a force for peace than the EU ever was, and no one is proposing the slightest change to NATO.
You say "love is a temple, love the higher law" ...You ask me to enter, but then you make me crawl. And I can't be holding on to what you got, when all you got is hurt
Now, here is another possibly interesting point because: Just a few hours ago I phoned up one of my ol’ pals in the UK asking about the Brexit and guess what he said…
Well, after putting my statement forward similar to how I put in my first response on this thread he said: Well, you know mate, I am gonna vote for the brexit but I am not gonna fool myself since the whole referendum thingy is very likely to get rigged against the brexit anyway, so my vote would hardly even matter. And all I had to say to that was just two words:
Wow, s~~~.

Anonymous1Got my voting card through. Out out out.

Your friend is spot on. We aren’t getting out of the EU. No way. The dice are loaded
