This time the lawsuit alleges Uber, the ride-hailing company knowingly neglects the safety of its female customers (no mention of male customers).

Thats a very interesting point,I wonder if Uber recommends that drivers have audio/video to protect themselves,if not they should..Why are the courts not recommending dashcams be compulsory(its recommending GPS???How is that better than dashcam)s,they’re cheap and give ultimate protection to client/driver..

Uber Is great for the amount of freedom it offers its drivers and customers. I have used it in Miami, Chicago, SF, LA etc.

Picked up by limo drivers, teachers on summer vacation, recent immigrants, college students all great conversations.

Within those freedoms are the unchecked stupid asses that use that to their advantage. Example would be people that rent guns at gun ranges to commit suicide. Hurts 2nd amendment in the long run.

An easy answer would be more cameras but this reduces our freedoms..Uber needs to adopt a national standard since they are expanding worldwide..but this would raise surcharges since someone would need to monitor them..1984 time.

My reply would be background checks and verified driver background when you accept a cab ride..then there are drunk bitches that tell at the cab or are straight rude around last call.

I can’t agree; it is the women’s responsibility to decide whether or not uber was safe enough for them.
If they didn’t think about it; then they got what they deserved.
If they thought it was worth the risk, then it was their mistake to make.

In most crimes relating to taxis, it is the DRIVER that gets robbed. My Grandfather drove a taxi decades ago; this remains unchanged. Historically, they have lots of cash and are an easy target…

Uber does not accept cash except in India and select cities. So the drivers are safer. You have a record online of who booked the cab. Uber does background checks and a driving test. Similar to a regular cab company. Since Uber cabs aren’t ‘hailed’, in my view, they’re safer; there is always a record of the passenger name and driver name since payment is via credit card. Uber also allows for PASSENGER ratings, in addition to driver ratings. So if drivers are bad, they get dumped.

I guess I’m not seeing how Uber is less safe than Yellow Cab; they do background checks too.

Really, what it’s come to in America is disgusting. If I rape somebody at work, *I* should be charged criminally, my employer should NOT be charged or pay damages… I don’t think the company should ever be held liable except in certain extreme cases, such as industrial accidents.

And hell yes, if I drove for Uber I’d have a dashcam!
