Girls More Anxious about Mathematics, STEM Subjects Compared to Boys
Gender equality and female role models not making a positive difference, study finds

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Global studies have shown that women are underrepresented in some science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects and fields. Even in countries with higher gender equality, sex differences in math and technical scores persist. Now, using international data, a team of psychologists from the University of Missouri, the University of California-Irvine and the University of Glasgow in Scotland, have determined that, overall, girls experience negative emotions about mathematics that can result in avoidance of math topics. Often called “mathematics anxiety,” scientists believe that several factors other than math performance are resulting in higher mathematics anxiety in girls compared to boys.

“We analyzed student performance in 15-year olds from around the world along with socio-economic indicators in more than 60 countries and economic regions, including the U.S. and the United Kingdom,” said David Geary, Curators Professor of Psychological Sciences in the MU College of Arts and Science. “Analysis revealed that girls’ mathematics anxiety was not related to the level of their mothers’ engagement in STEM careers, nor was it related to gender equality in the countries we studied. In fact, the gender difference in mathematics anxiety was larger in more gender-equal and developed countries. In more developed countries, boys’ and girls’ mathematics performance was higher and their mathematics anxiety was lower, but this pattern was stronger for boys than for girls.”

According to the study, in 59 percent of the countries analyzed, gender anxiety differences are more than twice the magnitude of gender differences in mathematics performance, indicating that factors other than performance are resulting in higher mathematics anxiety in girls than boys. Altogether, the study highlights the complexity of the gender differences in mathematics performance and anxiety, Geary said.

The study also analyzed the possible role of parental views on the value and importance of mathematics for their daughters and sons. In contrast with what many believe, parents in more developed countries placed a stronger emphasis on the mathematical development of their sons than their daughters — despite the fact that these more developed countries actually have larger proportions of mothers working in the STEM sector.

“Policies to attract more girls and women into subjects such as computer science, physics and engineering have largely failed,” said Gijsbert Stoet, reader in psychology at the University of Glasgow and a co-author of the study. “Gender equality is a key humanistic value in enlightened and developed societies, but our research shows that policy makers cannot rely on it as the sole factor in getting more girls into subjects like physics and computer science. It is fair to say that nobody knows what will actually attract more girls into these subjects. Policies and programs to change the gender balance in non-organic STEM subjects have just not worked.”

The thing is, even a lot of STEM is just BS now.

I want to make an equation look “pretty” (whatever that means), so I’ll just make assumptions that contradict all available evidence, and then I can write more papers and get more government research grants to figure out how to resolve those contradictions.

Math is very logical. Women don’t understand logic. They can PRACTICE logic if they work very hard at it, but they will never UNDERSTAND logic. It’s beyond the female brain’s ability to have rational thought and logic because it’s constantly being overridden by “feelings” and hormones. Women are f~~~ing worthless.

They don’t like math because it disproves everything they stand on. They wanted equality until they realize their lives are worked away only to find a bag of cat food and a bag of kitty litter is the only thing they have to come home to.

Men are engineered for long stents of isolation, hell it’s been more than 50 years that we’ve been isolated and shunned my society as a whole, now the backlash of feminism is hitting women a hell of allot harder than feminism first hit men. We are walking away for lives of solidarity in place of lives of utter misery and personal destruction. Women are finding themselves with worn out charm and met with utter rejection by men that have morphed into solitary creatures. It’s the ace up our sleeves when society attempts to alter the laws of nature.

They may say “I drink men’s tears” but the fact is I’m not the one crying myself to sleep.

You would think a woman being the same gender as mother nature would know better than to f~~~ with mother nature.

duh, math, physics, calculus is hard, you have to put a lot of hours, sacrifice a lot of your life for something 5 years from now.

women just dont need and dont want to do that, why spend 10 hours a day 7 days a week studying a stem field when you can spend 2 hours with makeup and make a lot of money in one night?

They just don’t want to and I honestly think nothing will change that. Sure there are some token women folk who have a love for electronics, math and various other cool little things. But they are a minority and will remain so because they have no passion.

The fact is only a small percentage of men are good at or interested in STEM as well. Women have so many choices and lack the passion for just about anything that they don’t need to invest in work or study. They can fall back on men and quotas and Feminism to get ahead.

So why study the hard stuff?

This.

I was a STEM major and could never make any money off of it. I’ve made way more money working a white collar liberal arts related job, and would have made even more if I had just never done STEM at all in the first place.

All the real money is in finance, accounting and management. There’s little to no STEM in any of that, much to the surprise of most people probably. All the math that IS in it is all simple stuff, and there’s no science or anything else in it.

Even in STEM fields, most of the big money is made by the people on top who just hire out slave H1-b Indians to do the grunt work.

Women are smart enough to understand this concept, and hence why they force their way into management and government, where they get either big money or guaranteed lifetime money.

Men should not really seek to feed the beast by getting themselves taxed into oblivion, but try to set themselves up for minimal work and control their incomes.

Eliminate debt and then try to get yourself $30-40k in passive income, and then you don’t have to work. Some of our MGTOW brothers rent apartments out to single women, others sell products to women, even hiring women to do the selling. Rentals are great because they are taxed at capital gains rates, so you don’t pay nearly as much tax as a wage earner. Same idea goes to bond interest or stock dividends.

Yes you will need to gain capital first. But rather than wasting several years of your life and getting into debt doing that, it’s a much smarter idea to even make minimum wage and start the ball rolling on these financial gains, especially if you can live with your parents, which I encourage and if I could talk to your parents I’d probably smack them in the head if they told you otherwise. This is one of the bigger secrets the upper classes have over the lower classes, who don’t understand generational wealth at all.
