Kind of related, I had a thought regarding all the ads that display men is idiots and buffoons, while women are the smart level headed ones. Although I’m sure they are attempting to appeal to women here, I think there is another side to this. If you reverse the roles in these, it’s just not a good idea because it’s…normal. An ad that depicts smart level headed men who are having to carry a woman through life is exactly what we see every day. It’s pedestrian. Boring. It draws no attention to your product. Reverse things to what you don’t see every day, and now it’s memorable. Plus, women just aren’t that funny, particularly when it comes to physical comedy.

Bingo. Television is 100% fantasy. We don’t need TV to show us what we see everyday. The world must rid itself of television – the psychopathy is built into the medium itself. Sadly, that will probably never happen. Humanity has become a wasteland due to it’s own technology.

There was actually more entertaining programming with just a few commercial breaks.

I used to think this. Go back and watch the old shows… the propaganda and devil worship, idolotry, and idiot-man stuff is all there, it’s just not as in your face. It’s very subtle, and, unfortunately, very effective. It was made for the times, but it got us where we are today. There is no good TV.

About Youtube, I watch in browser private mode with ad filters installed, and I get no commercials. Takes a while for the video to load, because I guess the ads are loading and playing, so I just see the little circle, but no ad.

I had to give up on “Saving Private Ryan” because of the damn shaky camera effects. I know the directors do this to create a sense of “realism”, but that’s not how your brain processes visual imagery in real life!

I quit watching TV in 1999, except for certain shows on DVD or the odd program I catch when I’m visiting family. Not saying this is for everyone, but I don’t miss it for a second.

Yes, the tv ads with their skewed logic and fast cut editing and shaky cam vertigo .. are the reason I gave up entirely on tv about ten years ago. They made me physically sick.… funny thing, I made about half my living years ago in television and now I have rejected it all.
I still have decent monitors and watch old films and lots of musical concerts on recorded media ..a library of about 2000 favorite titles on dvd and blu-ray I’ve collected over past fifteen years.. but no cable, satellite or terrestrial signal for over decade .. or ever again. Off TV advertising grid, forever.
..even though I’ve posted a few links to Youtube videos recently, some music and fav comedy shorts .. I’ve also cut way, way back on that site. Have you noticed all the new ads over there? Double ads .. and lots of ads during each viewing cutting in at the most inappropriate moments ..….. yes, I know someone has to pay for the Youtube availability .. nothing is free .. but I do have the choice to cut back .. or even “cut off” my viewing .. which is what will likely happen .. or .. is happening .. as we speak.

I got sick in the theater from watching Private Ryan because of the bouncy camera. I get motion sickness.
