I wonder how Trump supporters feel about him saying that John McCain, who endured years of torture when a Vietnamese POW without breaking, was not his idea of a hero. He said he preferred people who were not captured. Easy for him to say since he was dating super-models during the Vietnam war while people like McCain were risking their lives for their country.

heroes typically come in and save the day. Not get captured.

mccain’s sacrifices were great indeed. But words still mean things. hero means you did something heroic.

So I see that that a man who withstood years of torture, despite having his teeth knocked out and bones broken, and would still not reveal military secrets is not a hero. You have a very distorted sense of what hero is.

Interesting that on a site that is strongly related to sovereignty that no one ever brings up the fact that U.S. foreign policy is all about denying it from others around the world. What gives the U.S. the right to dictate what other countries do??? Ghadaffi agreed to not getting nukes, look what it got him… If anything U.S. foreign policy has taught a good lesson in the Mid East. And that lesson is, if you do not have a nuke, we may or may not come and destroy your country, and guess what, we do not even need a good reason to do so, we will literally make one up… Oh, and Israel is the only country in that region to disobey the nuclear non proliferation agreement, yet the U.S. still gives them the most money in foreign aid than any other country in the world… If you guys can’t figure out what is going in the the Mid East by now… It is about making sure there are no nuclear deterrents in the region so that the U.S. at Isreal’s behest can invade and destroy countries unchecked.

Good point. It’s our support of Israel and other fascist regimes that has got us in the mess we’re in today in the Middle East. I detest terrorism but we must realize that desperate people do desperate things.
