If you like roguelike games check this one out. Its simply the most polished roguelike game ever made and I’ve been playing them since Rogue back in 1982ish.

If you haven’t played one before the general concept is a roguelike game is 2d, turn based, with randomly generated maps to explore and fight monsters on. The general gameplay style is to learn by dying and usually dying requires you to restart the game.

TOME has many innovations that put it up in a higher tier than many other roguelike games but also has some nods to modern gameplay that the “deeper” roguelike games may lack.

It is an open source game and game engine. And I encourage everyone to buy it on Steam but if you are on the fence the developer lets you download the game for free from his website.

    steam page http://store.steampowered.com/app/259680/
    developer page http://te4.org/

edit: I’m too much of a tard to embed youtube so here is the link to the trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKpYy-pwRfM&spfreload=10

I am in no way affiliated with the developer I just love this game and want everyone to have the same great playing experiences I have

I have to admit I have only begun to dip my toes in rouge likes for little bit over a year now. This looks satisfyingly challenging, and I will give it a try. Thank you.

TOME is my favorite as well. Very accessible but not in a manner that comprises depth. My favorite class is the shadow blade and an unlockable class that can do funny things with time….

Rougelikes are perhaps my favorite genre because death has consequence, randomized dungeons and making do with what you have lends to the tension.

I’ll toss in my recommendation for Doom RL, if you’re just getting into the genre.
