Manson”s music is pretty conventional. He has to work hard to be controversial and gain media attentiin but its all just cheesy performance art.

The guy just seems like a f~~gy dork.

    He can speak coherently tho.

I really liked his Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals and Holywood albums. After that it became worse and he’s only a shadow of his former self now, which is a shame. He started as a shockrocker but he’s bland and tasteless now as kids these days aren’t really shocked by anything anymore with all the things they can look up on the internet.

In a historic perspective I put Manson in the same mould as Alice Cooper from earlier.

Both seemed pretty scary to the mainstream for a little while but both ended up cartoonish.

Manson takes himself a bit more seriously than cooper does. Both are marketing to a mainstream, mass commercial market.

    Suicide is a problem, obviously.
I don’t think it is because life is too hard.
I think it more likely it’s because life has become too easy.
There was a time when I was not at all sure I could live with the terms my life was being dictated to me on.
I never deliberately attempted suicide but I did decide to go on a prolonged fast at one point and found that once my hunger had been broken I had no desire to pick that burden up again.
The choice was taken out of my hands though so I survived and eventually I found something I could live for, a purpose I could truly believe in.

I think it’s his intelligence that can make his art seem a little contrived.
I only have one of his albums and only really listen to it when I have been driving for too long as it picks me up. That and Rage against the Machine.
As an artist I think his work has more value than most popular music as it holds up a mirror to our depravity as a species.
Where so much popular music is just pandering to what people want to hear.

There are a few Linkin Park songs I have enjoyed.
I don’t think they are anything special and think making idols out of people is moronic.
But I’m not big on music as it seems to play on my instincts and I just can’t trust that.

I only know that ONE song “hands up hands up… what you gonna do now? Back up back up….”

Wasn’t that Limp Bizkit? I’m pretty sure that’s a lyric from the Rollin’ song.

I was a big fan of Linkin Park when I was younger. They did a gig here in NZ a few years ago and I really wanted to go, but couldn’t afford the tickets.

It’s pretty sad this has happened, even if I didn’t know him. Suicide in itself is a sad thing. I’ve still got a few LP albums, might play one right now.

You are correct. I believe Keymaster made an honest mistake. The aforementioned song is indeed by Limp Bizkit.

OH S~~~. You’re right. Thank you for the correction. I actually knew that too. I don’t know how I messed them up. Linkin Park and Limp Biskit. Still remains…. I don’t know jack about either.

The “Rollin'” song grew on me after a while.

Def Leppard, Journey and Foreigner is were my Rock bands. And Billy Idol. I saw Michael Jackson live in concert and remember the date he died. Now I’m just rambling….

To me there are two choices:

    (A) The “humane” approach: where I pretend to care. But honestly, why am I pretending to care? Because I’m afraid you’ll think I’m a bad guy if I don’t. So even in that scenario, I only care about myself (i.e. how you see me) and thus the caring about others I don’t know is total B.S.

    (B) The “honest” approach: I honestly say I don’t care. If I don’t know the person, how could I care? And even if I am close to someone who dies, why would I be sad? Not out of concern of the person gone but out of concern for myself, i.e. I’ve lost something and thus I’m only thinking about myself.

It just makes me think how ungrateful and selfish the bastard was. He could of had anything he wanted. He could have helped anyone he wanted. Why not give all his money to charity?

Oh poor guy.. poor guy.. My ass. What about the poor family, friends, loved ones that he left behind because of his selfish actions?

Suicide is selfish. Especially in his scenario.

And you can take this or leave this, but who knows what kind of evil this man may have committed. Sure anyone is capable of evil but we see it all the time in celebrities. Just like R Kelly. Maybe his demons caught up with him and he couldn’t deal living with himself anymore do to his wickedness.

I was very impressed by Manson in ‘Bowling for Columbine’. Before that he was just noise to me. My brothers were big into Linkin Park knew some of their stuff but not really my thing. I didn’t put his name to Linkin Park until they told me. It’s strange how it works sometimes.
