Today I start my real estate licence class, I have spent the last few months mulling over in my head what I wanted to do with my life. The last 10 years I have been working as a tool and die maker. Recently I was promoted and I am now the shop foreman of a machine shop, along with the promotion came the promise of a raise and health insurance. It took 3 months to get my raise, I had to threaten to walk out that day if it was not on my pay-check. I still have no health insurance(Boss fired half the employees to avoid paying it.) As I was pondering what I want to do with my life I was looking at college for engineering or programming, Culinary, or in the back of my head there has always been an itch for real estate.

I spent many a night the last few months, writing lists, pro’s vs. con’s, what it would take, change of lifestyle, in the end I decided to go for it and try something totally new.

What really influenced my decision was a conversation I was having with my best friend, we both work at the same place, and we were talking about pay, how our boss complains “I don’t have money for new tools, you can’t buy end-mills right now.” he did however find the money for a new 30k rzr, and his new 250k donzi fishing boat. It was then it hit me dead in the face, I said to my friend “I am tired of working in job where my pay is based on how another person values me. If I go to school and get my degree my salary is still based of another person’s ideal of value. I am going to determine my own value based of my own hard work.” It was at that moment that I decided to pursue a real estate career, I am shooting for the top. I have to work 5 years as a sales associate and i can then apply for my own brokers licence and start my own real estate office.

Best of luck man! I have recently started contracting for my glazing skills. I was, five years ago, the highest paid “skilled working” employee of a huge glass company in Canada. I got really tired of making someone else rich from my unappreciated work. I’ve gone solo. It was extremely slow at first and sometimes I could not afford to eat for days. Now, with the weather getting to almost the plus side, I am getting busier. I feel a sense of freedom long forgotten since my youth. You are on a good path. Safe travels brother.

Thank you brothers, I am giving this nothing less than 110%, all my free time away from the paycheck will be invested in to my future, always working hard and playing harder. I decided 2016 is the year I no longer put up with s~~~ from anybody, boss, girl, parents or friends. If they have a problem with me advancing my situation, health or fortune. Sorry don’t need the negativity.

With respect my brother, give it 110%. There is always one more thing to be done. One more call to make. It’s 6pm and you can’t call a client after 6pm. F~~~ that!!!! The other real estate agents don’t, you better make those calls.

I want you to read brother Code Bunkers messages. When he talk about computer stuff, replace it with the words “real estate”.

F~~~ing light a fire under ass. You are in a tight field. How do you win, do it better, faster, better than everyone else.

Personally, when I’m spending 200K on something (like a house, farm, etc.). I want my hand held. I want you to make everything go smooth and be ok. I’d rather have more contact with you, “Jan, everything is on track, these minor issues, don’t sweat it, I have it covered.”

With respect, your job is to make s~~~ happen.

I’m just trying to help. Really.

Thanks Jan and Codebunker, I love reading CodeBunker’s post, his dedication to bettering himself and learning everything possible about his passion, helps me get into my mindset and lights my own fire.
