I have never threaded on “Philosophy” before but I felt this belonged here:

Being a southerner, I was raised to hold doors for women, I do it without thinking. However, I have gone through too much garbage from women. In the Navy, I was charged with sexual harassment for holding a door. For the life of me, I don’t know why I should hold doors for women or anyone else unless they have their arms full, elderly or are handicapped. Why be a southern gentlemen when there are no true ladies left? I don’t even want to interact with them anymore, so it’s a struggle with my upbringing, a 50 year habit. Does holding doors for women prove my distinction from women as a man or does it prove I am a brainwashed beta? I know southerners are the biggest on this upbringing, though they are not the only ones. That is why I am directing my question to southern MGTOW’s. How do you handle this?

I still hold doors for both men and women, the reason? because i saw on the news some blue pill motherf~~~er shoot another guy on the back of the head for not opening a door for a woman that was behind of him. Simple, i ain’t looking for problems in this gynocentric toxic waste called society.

Here in the south is plagued with blue pillers, manginas and simps, some men in this forum consider them not dangerous but they are clearly delusional..

I learned that same lesson when I was a college freshman (sorry) fresh-person.

I held a door, a lifetime habit drilled into me by mom and dad (rather strictly, actually), for some broad. She exploded like a bomb! “I can open … blah, blah, etc, etc!!!!”

I slammed said door in her face.

She came boiling thru and started her lecture all over again. Really, she took it from the top as if it was a rehearsed speech, but she had not memorized the middle parts.

The fact is, she was blocking the door in the first place, so holding it and letting her clear the hatch was the most efficient solution to that minor traffic flow problem.

A snappy comeback, why can’t I ever think of a snappy comeback?! I said something to the effect of, “f~~~ you bitch,” elbowed my way past her (she was still blocking the hatch), and went on my way.

I never held a door for a college broad again. (Hillary wannabes the lot of them! Tip: Do not make eye contact, unless you’re an experienced lion tamer.)

However, now that I’m back to living in the US South and a mature adult, I do hold doors for Southern Ladies without repercussion. I guess they went to a different college.

Most women I see are with guys, so if I hold a door open out of courtesy, it’s for the both of them. If it’s a woman alone or a group of women, I let them go first. Then, they usually hold the door for me.

I still hold the door open, it doesn’t bother me to do it. I don’t think about it in the deep terms that the OP was thinking about it in. It’s just a habit to me, and it doesn’t cost me anything to hold open a door for someone.

I open doors for my mom. She’s also in her late 70s and is pretty frail.

As for other people, if I’m opening a door for myself and there’s someone right behind me, I’ll hold it open and let them go first. I wouldn’t go out of my way to open it unless I was just about to go through it, though.

And yes, I was raised a “southern gentleman” and know that the very best way to get a picture perfect (framed, even) shot of a woman’s ass is to hold a door open for her 🙂

I will also hold the door for the elderly, anyone with their hands full or handicapped.

As well as those times described by Doc.

I will however especially go out of my way to hold the door for packs of women or anyone wearing any feminist clothing just to p~~~ them off.

I will open the door and hold it with my back ensuring that they cannot displace me.

If they say anything, I just welcome them to the old south where manners matter!

This is usually only an issue during tourist season when we are yankeefied.

Keep in mind people can carry concealed firearms with a concealed carry license.

And you might be holding the door for someone so you do not turn your back on them.

I hold the door for everyone near me so I am not jumped from behind.

I hold doors open for women.

But I’m done paying their bills, being an emotional door mat and catering to their insanity.

Earlier today, I opened a door for a woman. She was walking into a grocery store I was going into and she was about to cut me off, so I ran in front of her and caused the automatic door to open when I got close.

Just like that. Opened a door for a woman and I still made it in first.
