Apparently it’s a bit old, but I don’t watch enough anime so I only just binged it through all last night. Figured it was good enough to share.
I don’t really know how the original is, since it’s kind of peculiar about how it got localized; from what I gather, it bombed in Japan, so the people meant to do the translation didn’t even really get a script to work with, and were told they could do whatever they wanted with it to try to make it profitable. So instead of playing it straight they decided to do a more comedic route.
Will say it started off strange, wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but it grew on me, especially as it seemed later on they stopped trying to make sense of whatever the f~~~ the original script was trying to do. I guess it was apparently basically what “abridged” was before it became a thing, which makes me want to try out DBZ abridged after hearing so much about it.
In any case, it’s a good 20 episodes or so if you have time to kill. Unfortunately I think it will be hard to move on to something new – tried the first episode of Girls und Panzer and the tone is just totally different. I guess the closest I’ve seen would have been Excel Saga and even that wasn’t quite as off the wall. Maybe I’ll find a new gem eventually. One I’d really like to try is Berserk but something tells me that’s something else entirely.
"I have the fury of my own momentum." "With this ring I thee wed. Fire walk with me."
Try watching Yu Yu Hakusho. It is like a paranormal martial arts anime/manga. The series is over a hundred episodes long. The North American english dub is okay. The episodes of the first season is a bit hit and miss, but the series gets better in later half of season one. Season two is likely the best of the series.

Try Dance in the Vampire Bund.
Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.
