I’m on the train at the moment so excuse the lack of links and some info.

She won by taking on Right wing policies, notably immigration which she will cut.

The interesting thing though is none of the parties were able to win a clear majority.

So she has had to form Govt with the New Zealand first party which is very Right wing. The leader of that party might become the Deputy pm.

This bloke is older and many suspect groomed Jacinda. I’d bet he will be the true PM.

Is NZ lost? Possibly but as a country that was very Leftard even taxing cattle farmers on how much cattle they owned due to the methane gas let off by cows it is an interesting development.

Asked if capitalism had failed New Zealanders on low incomes, Ms Ardern was blunt: “If you have hundreds of thousands of children living in homes without enough to survive, that’s a blatant failure. What else could you describe it as?”

“When you have a market economy, it all comes down to whether or not you acknowledge where the market has failed and where intervention is required. Has it failed our people in recent times? Yes.

Real measures that the public can rate the government on are important, Ms Ardern said, citing improved waterways, child poverty, homelessness and building 10,000 new homes every year to judge them on.

So homelessness is a huge problem apparently, but ‘clean waterways’ are a priority, plus a bunch of new public housing.
