That if things don’t work out [in most cases it doesn’t], you lose half or more of your things.. Oftentimes your reputation gets ruined, etc. I’ve never been married tbh, but a few of my buddies have been married, & the divorce completely, & utterly destroyed them. Alimony/Child Support are some other things that suck about divorce. I’m so glad that I’ve never been married.

+1 for the never married club. When I was about 15 I told myself I wouldn’t get married until I was 30.. Now I’m 30 and glad I set that bar for myself because now I know what marriage really is! Betting someone half your s~~~ that you’ll be together forever!

My wife did not utterly destroy me but she sure tried. The thing is that I truly was not involved in most of it since it was clearly another person’s actions. This realization kept me stoicly untainted while running my business and living my life, whistling all the while. of course it has been years to make up the financial loss, and it was overall not pleasant.

As a divorced man I can tell you marriage is a living hell but so is divorce. I’ll probably never see a true retirement. I have a child with my ex and she will never relent. Women can not just walk away from a dissolved relationship they want total destruction! They seek to ostracize men from society. Stay single!

NerdTunneler—you nailed it. Conventional Western marriage makes the man a slave to everything. A married man is in hock to the labor market, the credit/banking system, the tax system, the insurance industry, the consumerist culture, and, if he has kids, the educational system. Nearly every aspect of his life Of course, a single man has to play by the rules too, but there remains some slack in the rules. The demands are less for a single man and the consequences of non-compliance are less drastic.

Smart move man…I’d have done it when I was younger and dumber and the women were hotter with less baggage and less mileage…but they were all busy riding the carousel then. Around the time I hit 30 was when I joined the f~~~ no, never marrying club lol.

Its just insane that I could marry, be a great husband, and she could cheat just because she’s use to having been a slut all through her 20s and can’t keep her legs closed, and some dimwit judge could order me to pay her a six figure divorce settlement on her way out the door…while, my way out the door actually as she’d get the house in the divorce.
