I get drunk sometimes and write about what is on my mind.

This is a poem and didn’t know where else to post it. I just stumbled upon it this morning and just barely remember writing it.

Also, please understand, I grew up in an emotionally and physically abusive household, was a career soldier, and had god awful marriage.

I had to fight verbally, emotionally, and physically to survive or just stay sane.

    Here goes

I was born in August of 1967
It was a time of animosity, suspicions, and violence
A strange thing that became familiar to me following the decade of “Guns and Butter”

What followed was the familiar grooves of the broken record
Comfortable in the violence of the familiar
    And the implacable tyrant

Now I stand here with you
The calloused hand considering the fuller
And the strange idea of the plowshare

Wisdom and the years speak with separate voices
    Towards peace and enrichment
    Or to be spent nobly

    Perhaps too old for both?

"I asked you a question. I didn't ask you to repeat what the voices in you head are telling you" ~ Me. ........Yes I'm still angry.

There is a long history between being high and producing art. The results being either absolutely brilliant, or complete crap. With no inbetween.

    Your poem is brilliant.
