The Strange Case of Jessica Drew(s) (Marvel Comics Spider-Woman)

This article is intended as a good laugh against SJWs.

Though, if you are not a comic geek, you are going to get a little lost in this article. But, bear with me.

When I first heard that Marvel Comics was planning to make Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman) the poster super-heroine of single motherhood, I was annoyed.

But, as I read the storylines, I started see an undercurrent of a plot of what was really going on, and it was beautiful. We are talking magnificent bastard/bitch level deviousness on several levels.

Take notes folks. This is a wonderful lesson on how to play people on several levels.

At one level, in real life, Marvel Comics is playing the SJWs.

In another level, in the storyline two Jessica Drews from two realities are playing everyone else.

It is your basic switch, with a few complications.

And this is not the first time Marvel Comics has done a good bait and switch with Jessica Drew. Last time was the Secret (Skrull) Invasion storyline.

Now, let’s start at the beginning. Over a year ago, an artist posted a variant cover for the first issue of a Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew in her spider uniform), which showed her having a nice butt. And the SWJ went nuts over the picture.

I guess the folks at Marvel Comics decided appease the SJW by making Jessica Drew a single mother.

But, the Marvel Comics also clearly has plans for later.

As I read the first issue of her series of Spider-Woman, I noticed something. For obvious reasons there was no real action of Jessica, but she had also cut most of her ties with her friends.

Then, in the second issue Jessica let slip that she is thirty-six weeks pregnant. As in nine months.

Those that have been paying attention to what is going on in Marvel Comics may begin see that the math does not work. For right after the Secret Wars storyline concluded, there was an eight month time skip. Not a nine-month time skip.

And for Jessica Drew of the main 616 Marvel Comic reality, nine months ago, she did not have time to sleep with someone, because she was fighting for her life in the spider-verse storyline. Where she and other spider-men and spider-women across the multiverse came together to fight some energy vampires trying to kill them.

The end of the spider-verse storyline literally slammed into the whole Secret Wars storyline. Jessica literally did not have time.

But, there was one Jessica Drew, a pirate, whom was not busy at that time.

Actually, in one of the epilogues of the Spider-verse, Spider-Woman issue four (of that volume), the first scene was showing Pirate Jessica Drew getting up from a bed she was sharing with a man, on her pirate ship.

Also, in that same issue, 616 Jessica Drew was clearly tiring of the heroing. Because the first thing she did when she returned to her home reality was to quit the Avengers.

Here is my theory. And there are clues to back it up. Though, there is one big flaw in this theory.

Soon after quitting the avengers 616 Jessica realized, from experience, that she cannot just quit her super-hero gig and go on vacation.

Given how crazy her life had been, someone somewhere would find her and drag her back into the superhero life style.

Last time she was not a super-hero, she got caught in the middle of Nick Fury, Hydra, and the Skrull Empire.

This was during the prelude of the Secret Invasion storyline. In her reality, this happened months before invasion went hot.

Jessica was experimented on, kidnapped, and replaced with Skrull, for months on end, without anyone realizing it. With the Skrull in question being the Skrull Queen.

And when all was said and due, with Jessica being free, she was one of the most hated individuals on Earth. Because people mistook her for her impersonator half the time.

It took a while, but 616 Jessica managed to pull her life back together.

Fortunately, she had someone that looked exactly like her. (Likely) Had her powers. And whom was looking for some excitement in her life. With Jessica figuring that no one would come looking for her, if no one was looking for her, because there was someone impersonating her.

And Jessica had a way to do this swap very quietly. During the spider-verse storyline, the spider-people had been given small devices which would allow to travel the multiverse. The devices work like instant teleporters.

So, Jessica teleported to Pirate Jessica and made her an offer. They switch places for a while. Pirate Jessica can see what it is like to be a super-hero, while Jessica could have vacation from the insanity of her life.

Pirate Jessica agreed. And they swapped places, Jessica brought Pirate Jessica to her reality. Taught what she needed to know to impersonate her. Whom were her friends. Who to watch out for. What to say to avoid being discover.

Jessica then left her home reality, so she could get her much needed vacation time. From playing pirate, to just drinking rum, while laying on the beach.

Unfortunately, as Pirate Jessica began planning to live the super-hero life, she learned she was pregnant. After which, she weighed her options. She could come clean with everyone, and upset the other Jessica.

Or, Pirate Jessica would use Spider-Woman Jessica’s Average’s medical coverage to get the best medical care she could possibly have for her and her unborn child. So, no pun intended, she decided to stick around for a while. At least until she dropped her kid.

So, Pirate Jessica decided to stay in the 616 reality, and pretend to be the 616 Jessica.

Also, after several months, Pirate Jessica has been in that reality long enough to have some local pop-culture knowledge. So, she can fake it, as long as her she is not around the other Jessica’s friends for to long.

And there are clues that the Jessica that is pregnant is not the 616 Jessica.

In Spider-Gwen comic series, volume two, issue three, Gwen came to the 616 reality to find Spider-Woman Jessica to learn exactly how the Gwen Stacy of the 616 died. Said events were from the “Night Gwen Stacy Died”.

Interestingly, Jessica didn’t give Gwen an answer to what happened to the Gwen Stacy. She just danced around the question, and told her not to worry about it. Likely because Jessica did not have the answer, because she was not that 616 Jessica.

When Gwen was working her teleporter device, and she complaining about it, Jessica comments she lost her device. Or, maybe she never had one to being with. But, it was then that Jessica played a wicked joke on Gwen, to trick Gwen into leaving. This is likely because Jessica did not want to get caught in a lie that would lead to her reality identity being exposed.

There are a few other clues, but those are the big clues.

Now, there is flaw is this theory. The Pirate Jessica was never shown to have power. But, she also had someone hit her before she knew it, immediately taking her out of the battle. (Let’s not get into the spider sense debate on this.)

Though, Pirate Jessica knows about the spider totems. And also the storyline shows the energy vampires to consider her their pet.

In addition, the moment Pirate Jessica saw 616 Jessica she betrayed and immediately pointed out 616 Jessica to the others. But, from the look on her face, she could have done so do to fear.

Also, 616 Jessica showed she did not like Pirate Jessica, though, at the end of the spider-verse storyline, 616 Jessica put Pirate Jessica in charge of that Pirate Jessica’s home reality.

Why would 616 Jessica do this? Something is missing here.

And there are clue. Along with her pirate clothing, Pirate Jessica wore a custom very similar to 616 Jessica’s spider-woman costume. Including yellow webbing under her arm pits.

It is possible Pirate Jessica had the same, or very similar powers as 616 Jessica, only she hid them. With her being a traitor out of necessity

In stories like this, there is always that one traitor that sides with the enemy. Sometimes the traitor can be as high up in rank as second in command. And sometimes the traitor had not choice and is a slave.

I believe Pirate Jessica might have been somewhere in between, and closer to slave.

And even as a spider-totem, there would a few reasons Pirate Jessica would be kept alive by the energy vampires.

A spider totem for the energy vampires to eat on lean times. Or, they could have slowly been milking her. Or, they just kept her alive because she was loyal, but afraid, though she did not show her fear. And keeping her alive amused the energy vampires.

And even though these energy vampires allowed her to travel the world they were on, they could use portals to travel anywhere in seconds, so there was nowhere she could have run.

In is possible, that off screen, both Jessicas had a private conversation, 616 Jessica found this out Pirate Jessica. And that is why 616 Jessica put Pirate Jessica in charge.

The clues hint to this possibility.

Either way, eventually, when Marvel Comics gets tired of this single-motherhood storyline, they will likely either do a cosmic reset, or the plot will reveal that Jessica is not the real 616 Jessica. And in that case, the most likely suspect as to whom that women would be is Pirate Jessica, with the real Jessica having been on an extended vacation.

Then, the two Jessica will return to their realities and the status quo is maintained for the 616 Jessica. With the 616 Jessica quickly cleaning up any messing her counterpart left. And everyone continuing with their lives.

And so, Marvel Comics win. the comics fans win. And the SJW lose because they got what they wanted, but lost it the moment they turned their attention to something else, showing how little anyone respects their movement.

On a side note, when is comes to leading female characters, Marvel Comics tends to do a fairly good job. While on paper some of their characters are politically correct, these characters are written well.

For example, the new Ms Marvel, Kamala Khan, had some of fans concerned. But, the way Marvel Comics has handled her has been great. Basically, she is a fan girl that was made a super-hero, without being annoying. With a strong supporting cast.

Also, other leading female characters of Marvel Comics have been very good.

And if you want to do binge reading on a good super-hero comic with a female lead, I highly recommend the May (Mayday) Parker Spider-Girl series. The series is a what if Peter and Mary Jane’s daughter survived and grew to a teenager. It is very good story. With a strong cast. It is over a hundred issues long. And it is not very dark. It is an old school super-hero comic that doesn’t get dark, and you can sit back, relax, and read it.

The best comparison I can make is this Spider-Girl series is that it has a similar vibe as the Batman Beyond series. And like Terry eventually earns the title of Batman. Mayday earns the right to be Spider-Girl.

May wasn’t an instant expert, she had to learn how to do the job. Her social life was steady. But, she did not have much of a romantic life. And while she had friends, she was not the center of attention at the school she went to.

The series is over a hundred issues long, over a few volumes. It is very good. And it is one of those series one can point to on how to do a female lead right.

Also, the spiritual successor of May Parker’s Spider-Girl series is the Spider-Gwen series.

While the Spider-Gwen is still a fairly new series, it has a very, very good storyline.

It flips the script. Gwen Stacy got powers and Peter Parker died. But, the series is very will done. Gwen is no mary sue. She has her flaws. She makes mistakes. And the supporting characters are very nice. And it is not a straight copy of the main Marvel reality. There are some big differences.

Such as Matt Murdock works for the Wilson (Kingpin) Fisk as his lawyer (and Matt likely does other jobs for Wilson).

Frank Castle is still a police officer (as captain). And Frank’s family is still alive. Though, you start to see hints of his Punisher side coming out, even with his family being alive. And yes, Frank is as badass and determined as his Punisher counterpart.

Then, there is Gwen’s father, police office George Stacy knows Gwen is Spider-Woman. George is not happy about this. George also works with Frank and he does not like Frank.

Many of the characters in the Spider-Gwen series are well rounded.

I am looking forward to seeing how the Spider-Gwen series matures.

Anyway, while I am a MGTOW, I do enjoy good writing. I honestly don’t care if the lead is male or female, as long as the characters and plot are well written in the story or script.

Nine months pregnant and no one noticed? TL;DR & sorry mate, you pegged me in the intro as a guy who has lost track of Disney/Marvel feminist screeds.

That said, I do agree with your analysis overall. Maybe, someday, my public library will allow me to avail myself of a copy.

Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?

Nine months pregnant and no one noticed?

I realize that was a long post. I did mention that the entire Marvel comic line did a eight month time skip. And in the comic she seems to avoid most of her friends.
